when my litle girl was 2 my sister thought is was cute to buy her a bikini set, so she could be like her auntie but i told her that i don't want people buying inappropiate clothing for her, she is a little girl she is only 2 not 16, i think you should tell them it was a lovely thought but you don't want your girls to be wearing clothes like that

I personally think you need to put an end to it now, if you just let them think that was fine then what else will they buy. Are they going to be sending padded bras when they are six? Miniskirts? I think you need to make it known that you consider it innaproppriate and deal with it now, this issue could become a lot bigger if you say nothing.

I'm with you. I would NEVER put a string bikini on a two year old. I would burn those things. That is crazy and soooo inappropriate.

At home put your girls in them and take a pic to appease the in-laws. Then just don't use them. I agree that we shouldn't be sexualizing toddlers. My daughter only has a 2 piece for bathroom/ diaper ease (not a string bikini). However, I also don't know if its worth making waves in the family over clothing. :)

hell no. string bikinis should not be worn by any child until they have the boobs to hold them in place. nothing bugs me more than eight year olds at the pool running around with their boobs hanging out due to the bathing suit being so lopsided because they dont have boobs t hold it in place.but especially not at two. my daughter is 17 months, and has an adorable, brightly colored one piece to wear over a swim diaper. i guess theres not SO much of an issue if its a boyshort stlye bottom with a what i call bar style top with spaghetti straps. but as for MY daughter? she will not wear a two piece until she a teen, and it wont be a string bikini. thats going to wait unti lshes out of my house

Stick the suits in the trash and tell them.... not a chance. I would suggest giving them away, but then you'd be contributing to the 'sexualization' of someone else's babies and that wouldn't sit right w/ me.

It wouldn't bother me to put it on them in the yard to play and take some pictures. I am not sure if I would send them in public dressed like that though.

I would send the pictures with my girls in the bikini's covered with a rashguard. Neither my son not daughter go out in sun without a rashguard on!

I would tell them to stick the bikinis where the sun don't shine. Completely and utterly inappropriate I wouldn't even put them on for pictures. I would send them back with a note explaining why.

Oh, yuck. I would not be pleased. I'd probably send a thank you card with some pictures of the girls (fully clothed, doing something else) and throw the swimsuits out. Some people see nothing wrong with it, though, so maybe they sincerely thought it was a cute gift.

I completely agree with you totally inappropriate I would simply tell them that I appreciate that they want to buy gifts for the children but that I would never dress my little girls sexy and then I would get a bunch of info on pedophiles that hangout at swimming pools (cause theres been problems with that where I used to live)

I wouldn't do it. I think it's totally inappropriate. But look at what most people are letting their kids copy - Miley Cyrus. She had a boyfriend at 14 who was 18. She posed in Elle magazine with her stomach hanging out, doing poses Playboy bunnies would be proud of. The last I hear of her, was during one of her concerts she had a pole rolled out that guys moved around on stage while she danced next to it. I just don't think this is appropriate. For 2, 5, or even 15. When they are 18, have at it. But until then, i'd like my kids to TRY to learn some self respect before just degrading themselves or deciding they want to be a certain way. I want them to have a choice, not an upbringing which caused them to be a certain way.......
