Hi...
My son is almost 2 and a half and started stuttering a week ago. He speaks in complete sentences and has an extensive vocab.Ive read that its quite common at this age especially boys. should I wait a bit or see a speech therapist?

My son who is now 3 1/2, id dthe same thing around 2 1/2, he grew out of it after a coupel months..i think his brain was working faster than his mouth could gt it out...lol He didnt do with all words or all the time...it seemed more like when he was excited or really had something eh wanted to say, thats why i thin his brain was going faster than his mouth lol. so if that is waht is happening with your son i woud jus twait and see if he grows out of it. if it is something that is allthe time with everything eh says i would talk to your Dr and see what they recomond...hope this helps :)

My ex fiance's cousin's son had a pretty bad problem with stuttering when he was 3 and 4. They took him to a speech therapist but also worked with him at home. Whenever he would start stuttering, they would explain to him they couldn't understand and then asked him to slow down. If that didn't work they asked him to stop, think about what he wanted to say, and try again. And it totally worked!! But everyone had to do it: his teachers at preschool/daycare, his parents, and extended family....everyone.....or he would have lost that support. (does that make sense?)
So I would start with that and see how it goes. If you dont see much progress I'd look into the speech theapist. I hope this helps!!
