I am 7 months pregnant with my second child and we know (as much as one can:) that it is going to be a girl but we are having the HARDEST time trying to find a girls name! Thought it would be easy with a girl, my other child is a boy named Ethan, but we can't agree on anything! We are looking for something unusual but not strange...suggestions would be great! :)

I think that Tianna is a nice femine unusual name....I'm a childminder and have only come across it once.....other name ideas are Lynsey, Rebecca, Hannah, Amelie ...I hope this has helped you and all the best with baby

one of my best friends gave me 3 rules when naming my daughter
1) what can it be shortened to
2) does it go with the surname
3) imagine yourself screaming the name out the back door for the world to hear when dinner is ready

i think these are good rules to go by.,

i also have one extra rule of my own- try to imagine them as a successful working adult. some of the names are great for 5 year olds, but not so great for 35 year olds.

we are in ireland, so my little girl is Mairéad (pronounced: Maaraid) and we had chosen Caoilfhinn (pronounced (QUWAILINN). (english versio: Keelin) for my 2nd child, but we were blessed with a beautiful son, so he is named Cormac.

best of luck with the name choosing

My only suggestion is to not name her anything sounding like your son's name & not to be too trendy. Maybe a classic name or a family name. And maybe wait till she is born & you'll look at that adorable baby face & just know what her name should be?

My daughter's name is Christina, but the nickname she has is "Nina." I never hear of anyone by that name (except for years ago I remember Nina on All My Children!

Good luck deciding!

Ahhh... the name dilemma! I have always had luck with family names. Some variation on your mom's name or Mother-in-Law's name (mom is Mary, you do Meredith and call her "Merry")? Perhaps one of their maiden names is a great one to use as a first name? You can use dad and grandpa names too in their feminine version. Theresa instead of Ted (but you can call her Teddi if you like that) that kind of thing.

A lot of parents like the sound of a first name and last name that start with the same letter... so perhaps a first name that has that.

So fun choosing a name for a baby who will be here soon! Have fun! And let us know if you choose!

I have always like Katherine or 'Katie' for short. Morgan would be another, or 'Maggie' for Margaret.

I had 3 boys. I have 3 step daughters though, Katherine, Desiree and Jeanine.

The girls names I wanted were Ailis, Malee, Juliette, Sydney and Kathleen but I'm liking Charlize or Charlotte right now too! I may not have anymore kids but I can still dream!

My daughters name is Legaci but the only suggestion I have for u is that you are careful to name her something that reflect promise and speaks life into her. You'll be calling her name all the time. And what you call her is often times what she'll demonstrate or become...Speak blessing over her...

We really liked the name Paige when we were expecting our last baby. Couldn't come up with a middle name we liked to go with it though, so called her Alice instead. Good luck in picking a name. Just remember that you do have a bit of time after it arrives before you have to register it to come up with something. Although it is nice to have something on the day. =o)

Rosalie is adorable. I've never met anyone named Rosalie but I've met many Roses'. When we thought of names for our kids we thought of people we have met with the same name. i named my daughter Mio. It's Japanese and I have never met a Mio that wasn't cute, loving and fun to be around. i don't know, i hope this helps. and congrats on your next one!

I'm a teacher and had a little girl in my class named Nevaeh. Pronounced NA-VAY-AH. Thought it was a very pretty, but unusual name. Then she told me it spelled "HEAVEN" backwards. That made it even better. :)

After having 2 boys, we discovered we were expecting identical twin girls, they are now nearly 5 Charlotte Georgia and Heather Sophie. If you can find some names that you each like, even if you don't both like the same ones, by the time baby arrives she may just "look" right for one of the names. Heather is the slightly smaller of our girls and her name just seemed a bit more dainty....which quite possibly makes no sense whatsoever! but you don't have to name her immediately, meet her first and then decide what will suit her. Good luck and I hope all goes well x

We have a Madison, Ava & Isabel. However, there are a lot of older names (from 80s and 90s) that are NOT common right now and won't be in your kids generation like Andrea...However, my daughters middle name is really what I wanted for a first name - Jolie or spelled Joely.

We had great difficulty choosing our youngest girls name she was 2 weeks old before she was named!!!.... we couldn't agree and were like you and wanted something a bit different but not too out there so in the end we called her Brigette Rose her big sister is Holly Maree. I really like the girls names Willow, Lailani, and Maye. Good luck and dont stress too much, we had fun with the family after Brigette was born trying to name her, like I said it took 2 weeks after she waas born!!

My daughters names are Marrah Tyler Elizabeth & Maizie Thomas Elexus! I wanted to keep their initials the same as well as carry on some family names like Thomas. Since I can't have anymore and boys weren't a selected option, I gave my girls typical boy names as well! I chose Maizie because I wasn't supposed to be able to have any children, Marrah was our first and thought to be last, so when Maizie appeared, all I kept thinking was that this is "AMAZING!" A slight adjustment and "Maizie" was "born" derived from Amazing! Look for something symbolic in your life that represents the way you feel about you newest arrival to be!! It'll come to you...or you can use my girls names!! LOL
