I am 7 months pregnant with my second child and we know (as much as one can:) that it is going to be a girl but we are having the HARDEST time trying to find a girls name! Thought it would be easy with a girl, my other child is a boy named Ethan, but we can't agree on anything! We are looking for something unusual but not strange...suggestions would be great! :)

As a teacher I run across many names I don't like. Ethan is a great name! Eva is rally popular now, Olivia, Mia, and Rose are names I like. My girls are Grace and Abby. Good luck!

Here is a list of my favorites. Some may be old fashioned but I like a classic name that has been a little forgotten in recent years! I want a girl so badly but my husband is not sure yet if he wants a second kid. My husbands favorite girls name is Autumn.

Esther

Ella or Ella Rose (like Bobby Jo, two words, one name, She'd be Ella Rose Autumn Crawford )

Persephone (ok so that one is a bit strange but I love it! hehe)

Dominique

Ruth

Helen

Elaina

Cassidy

Gabrielle

Leena

Elenore

Lisle (yes like from sound of music!)

Cora

Lillian (if we do have a girl, my husband wants her to be lillian autumn ! I love lillian but "Lily In Autumn" is just a bit too much for me! lol)

Riley

Isadora

Emmaline

Honorine (my grandmas middle name)

Ayla

Tasia

Natalia

Rayden

Caroline

Enora

Abigail

Olivia

Grace

My daugher's name is still my favorite, Kaylee. If I was able to have another I would use Lilly or Emily. Simple but still beautiful. I do have a friend that named her daughter Irelynn (Ireland and lynn) it's unusual but pretty and goes well with Ethan. Hope this helps good luck! Congratulations!

Thank you all for your posts, they have been very helpful! So far we both like Adelyn, Leah and Anaia. My husband and I have very different tastes which is making this process that much more difficult! I quite like the idea of having her name start with an E like her brother but have not found a name we can agree on yet. Thank you all again for helping and I will let you know what our final decision is...if we can ever agree on one! :)

We named our second daughter Brynn. It is not on the top 10 list and we get plenty of "love it" comments. It's pronounced Brin.

How about Emily? That has a nice ring to it, "Ethan and Emily" not to mention that Emily is a classic that will probably never go out of style. Good luck with the name search and congrats on the new baby girl!

Whatever you decide to name her, SPELL IT LIKE IT SOUNDS! I feel so sorry for children whose name is a simple name spelled some off the wall way. My daughter has a friend named DAKOHOTA, pronounced Dakota. If you have to write the pronounciation of your child's name beside it you are spelling it wrong.

MiLayna
AubriElla

I also liked Payton, Kendall and Alayna at times!

Good Luck!

Like Kristi said, check everything. Can it be shortened? What would the initials be? Does it mean something goofy in another language (you never know where the child will end up), ... And also check the meaning of the name that people can bump into. Someone in the family named their son Logan. First thing I always do is google it and it means empty, hollow! Terrible to be stuck with that.

look at your family history.... there could be a family name you like or could put a twist on.
Research name meanings and think of how you want your future child to be.
My whole pregnancy my daughter was going to be named Natalie Rose..... I took one look at her and knew she wasn't a Natalie.
We named her Shelby Lynn (not after the singer... I never knew about her)
Congratulations! and good luck :)

My beautiful baby girl is named Annaka Elyse
She is six months old

I work for the school here in my town and the elementary school has four girls named Dannika. Anyways, I also like Ava, Ellie, Emma Leigh, Rhianna, and Avery. We also had a name picked out for a girl but decided it sounded masculine. It was Rhedyn which is pronounced (Ray-Den)

I just have a couple suggestions. Make sure the ending of her name isnt the same as the beginning of the last name, otherwise it will all run together like one word. Check the initials of the name you chose, 1st middle and last to make sure it doesnt spell a weird word. My sisters initials were going to be ASS, so my parents changed her middle name to start w/ a C instead. Think of grandparents first and middle names as options. Do you want the babys name to start w/ an E? Do you want it to have a nickname...some names can be shortened and butchered to things you do not prefer. Like Nathaniel can become Nate, which may not be likable by you or your husband.
Personally I like names that you dont hear often, but arent weird. I do not like common names at all. And most certainly would not name my daughter Bertha or Gertrude, lol. Name choosing is such a personal choice, have fun choosing. I hope these tips were helpful in narrowing down your choice.

My girl's name is Ziva. And that was the only name we liked.
Like you we prefer unusual names. It makes a child stand out more and it prevents 3 heads turning when a teacher yells 'Rachel!' :)

We named our daughter Elizabeth Rose. Her original name was Sarah Elizabeth. I'm more of a traditional when it comes to names, but I've seen some unusual names. I like Riley, Zhanay, Gwen, Micah, Carmen, and Josephine.

We had great difficulty choosing our youngest girls name she was 2 weeks old before she was named!!!.... we couldn't agree and were like you and wanted something a bit different but not too out there so in the end we called her Brigette Rose her big sister is Holly Maree. I really like the girls names Willow, Lailani, and Maye. Good luck and dont stress too much, we had fun with the family after Brigette was born trying to name her, like I said it took 2 weeks after she waas born!!

My daughters names are Marrah Tyler Elizabeth & Maizie Thomas Elexus! I wanted to keep their initials the same as well as carry on some family names like Thomas. Since I can't have anymore and boys weren't a selected option, I gave my girls typical boy names as well! I chose Maizie because I wasn't supposed to be able to have any children, Marrah was our first and thought to be last, so when Maizie appeared, all I kept thinking was that this is "AMAZING!" A slight adjustment and "Maizie" was "born" derived from Amazing! Look for something symbolic in your life that represents the way you feel about you newest arrival to be!! It'll come to you...or you can use my girls names!! LOL
