I'm having monoamniotic twins (they share the same sac). Can anyone refer an ob and a hospital where I can give birth safely? My ob (who's not an expert in Mono-mono twins) is referring me to a private hospital and the estimated delivery expense is at PhP 80,000. Please help me find another hospital that's cheaper...

Hi Ellen
Expense should not be your main concern. The health of your two little ones should be. I know its hard to not think about it. I couldn't stop wondering about the same thing everyday my baby spent in the NICU (39 days)
Depending on where you live there should be some kind of help. I had mine in Washington state and on one of my births I didn't have insurance so the state help me out. They help all pregnant women and there children once born if there is not sufficient health coverage. I agree with Tara find a OB doctor experienced with giving birth to twins. Look under high risk ob doctors. Once you find a doctor ask them about the hospitals near by and what kind of financial assistance they can provide you with. My last one was a preemie and thank God we had good health insurance. Since he was born early and had a long hospital stay the state came in and helped out with what ever was left over from the primary insurance (over 100,000 total cost) Good luck and ask lots of questions.

Hi Ellen, I'm not sure where you are located but, I found great doctors at Motefiore in NY - I have twins they were not monoamniotic but, I found a hosptial that had a great NICU and a doctor that was a maternal fetal medicine specialist. - You don't need to go to a private hospital you just need an OB who has expereince in high risk pregnancy

Since your ob is referring you, contact your insurance and see if they'll cover the expense since it's a referal and not a personal choice, per se.
