when should u stop swaddling your baby ? my son is 4 months old and still needs to be wraped at nite or he will only sleep for 20 min and then is awake again just wanted to know when to stop and reasons for doing so ?

I have 3 beautiful children the first one i wrapped for 4 months, second one 10 mths, then had to go back and wrap again as he would not sleep so he was done until about 13 mths, and my last atleast 12 mths,. They loved to be wrapped and dropped off to sleep like a dream. My daughter is 6 now and still loves to feel her muslin wrap.

There is no need to stop until he is able to roll over and unwrap himself. Once that happens it becomes a SIDS risk.
My daughter LOVED her swaddle, and therefore I loved it too lol. I was very anxious at having to stop doing it, and it did take a week or so of disrupted sleep, but they adapt. If you use the swaddle as a cue for sleep, you may want to replace it with something else.
My daughter was rolling at 2 months, but I kept her wrapped until 5 months because she never attempted to get out of the swaddle until then! I actually had two muslins sewn together to make it double-width, which made wrapping her tightly MUCH easier.

As long as possible... he'll let you know. When my daughter's started to roll over they would end up with the wrap everywhere... I found this a little scary and stopped swaddling. It took them a while to get use to not being swaddled to go to sleep. I wouls swaddle initially then loosen it when they were asleep.

My son is 6months is is still swaddled its like a sign to him its time to sleep otherwise he thinks its playtime!

Keep him swaddled for as long as he likes. I stopped swaddling my son after he was a month old, but he was so active and constantly kicked the blankets.

we only swaddled for like the first 6 weeks. both my girls figured out how to kick it off after that.

wrap him as long as he wants you too. i know a child who is almost one but still likes to be wrapped tight for bed. no harm in it so i wouldn't worry about stopping if he needs it.

your son will let u know when he does not want to be wrapped in a blanket.He proably feels secure being wrapped at night.
