Swearing

Holy #$%^, haha, just kidding! I'm just lucky that my 17.5 month old isn't talking (only about 5 words now) or who knows what she would say. Yikes! I guess that's truly your wake-up call when you hear your little one say the F-bomb. I usually do pretty well unless I'm on the cell phone. That's where we really need to watch ourselves. I try to say "What the F" or "F-ing" this or that but it's really no better. Time to just be the good example we are supposed to be for our kids and grow up. Maturity is so hard isn't it?! :)

Not only do I substitute with silly made up words, if my 6 year old catches me swearing I have to give her and her little brother five cents.

yah, i have 2 and 1 yr old boys, swearing is almost called for with my frustrations.. BUT.. not appropriate.. so i so the same if i feel the word coming on i will turn it into something silly like fffff.. arm animals.. i know it sounds stupid but it works.. or for s word i've said sssssillly. mommy.. sometimes i need to get it out in those silly ways.. also sometimes i say mmmm mother mary help me.. im telling you it works if you try

Do your parents swear?, was it common place when you were growing up to hear people swear? i ask this because swearing becomes a habit, part of every day conversation. It takes concentration and a bit of hard work but of course you can stop if you really want to. I might be shouted down on this but i find angry people swear more. So 1, chill out, 2, imagine you are trying to impress people every day. Start up a reward chart, if it works for kids there is no reason it wont work for you, imagine the rewards you can give yourself. 3, everytime you have a slip of the tongue £1 in in the swear jar. (not a bad way to save) just remember most people swear if they hurt themselves, or if there is really no other word to convey the same meaning as a swear word. I do occasionally swear no one is perfect but never in front of the children, i cant think of nothing worse. Ps, i'm no way perfect but my ideas could work. Good luck!!!

Try faculty for Fword. So if you say "fuck" just add "ulty".If any other word gives a hard time just ask.

I changed my words to something funny that make my kids laugh. Ex: Son of a turkey feather, or turkey fart. Or instead of f*** I'll say fudge or fudgenuts if it's bad. All my kids are in school this year so they've all heard the bad words but they use mine instead and don't get into trouble.
