My son is 3 months old and sleeps thru the night. When he wakes up in the morning, his right eye is swollen. The swelling does

eventually go away as he wakes up more. I called his doctor today and she has not called me back. Any moms out there who have experienced this too or any advise as to why this is happening? Thanks

His doctor called me back today. She said that it is normal that this happens. He is a tummy sleeper and when he lays on one side for a long period of time that's what happens. Nothing too worry about!! Thanks for the responses!!

Thanks Kristyn. His eyes do water and but no full tears yet. As far as discharge...he gets normal eye goopies as I call them in the corner of his eyes. And again thanks for the advice.

My daughter had the same problem when she was born and it lasted about 2 or 3 months... My guess is Kristyn is right no need to be worried, but maybe ask your doctor about something for it if it doesnt clear up soon. My doctor gave me some sav (sorry not sure on the spelling) for hers and it cleared it up in a couple days.

He may have a clogged tear duct. No worries this is normal, however, your pediatrician may have to open it up. Any discharge from the eye? You can use a cold compress to relieve the swelling. ***Remember to never place ice directly on the skin with a 3month old my suggestion is to use a cool cloth***

Hope this helps a bit
