Taking home-made baby food on holiday?

My husband and I are planning on going to Disneyland Paris with our baby in early June (she'll be 9 months then) and I'm concerned about what to do about her food. I make all her food myself and freeze it in an ice cube tray and then store the cubes in freezer bags. I don't really want to buy jar food for the holiday but am not sure how exactly to go about using my home-made food while being away from home for a week. We haven't booked a hotel yet, but none of them mention whether they have a fridge in the room... Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

Ive got the same dilemma, i cook all of Summers food and we are going away in 2 weeks for a week. i dont really want to feed her jars but i'm afraid im going to have to. It really is the safest way to ensure she is eating the right foods. i was thinking of taking the hand blender and mincing down food for her but i won't be sure how its cooked or wot has been added to it. sooo jars it is!
hope you get on ok.
goodluck

I was afraid of that Louise! Thanks for letting me know about the fridges. My husband says we should just use the jar food and I'm really reluctant, but my baby needs to eat! Thanks for the suggestion on Organic ones Robyn! I've never even looked at jar food or what's in them before...so I guess I need to do my research on that now :)

Having been to disneyland paris three times I have never seen any fridges in any of the rooms. I think the best way would be to buy jars as you can not store the food correctly. If you are staying in the holdiay inn then I strongly suggest there breakfasts as it is served buffet style and your child could eat scrambled eggs and soft sausages and woffles. There really is not anything inside the parks for a 9 month old to eat. The only thing I can think of is a baked potato with cheese as most things are crusty french stick with cheese or ham. I suggest you take small baby jars for one usage so that you know they are safe to be left out of the fridge if unopened. I know this is not what you want to hear but it is the only way you will feed your child safely.

my son is 8 months old and I make most of his food too. I have travelled recently with him and I have bought a mini blender/food processor. It's cute and compact. But like you said, you can't always make food up for that day.

I went to the next best thing for the time being....Baby food but ORGANIC. The sugar content was much lower then baby food and had to add in to it like salt, starch and so on. He took back to my homemade food very well as the taste was very simular then the "gerber" baby food.

I would call the hotel and see what ones have a micro and fridge. I would just put the cubes into small containers and use the fridge they can thaw and be ready to warm when you need it. I also made all my own the same as you and I think by nine months my son was starting to eat finger food, this would help you so you can just break up the food you are eating for your baby. I also took a thermos with hot water and a cup with me so I could heat up his bottles and food anywhere we went, this worked great for me. If you are going to buy jar food to take with you make sure you try it at home first because my son refused to eat the jar foods, so I always had to bring the home made food everywhere. Good luck, hope you have a nice trip.

Yes..... you can purchase battery operated mini food choppers or just purchase an international 'plug' converter for yours so you can order your food/self cater etc and still chop up portions for your little one. Have a great time enjoy Paris its beautiful!!
