My dr. recommends not giving meds until temp is over 100. At that point if you have a temp that is not responding to tylenol, try motrin. If after 24 hrs you can't get a temp down see your dr. Remember dose of tylenol then 2 hrs later dose of mortrin then 4 hrs later dose of tylenol and so on. Don't keep this up if her temp comes down, keep checking temp before dosing. Hang in there!!

if he's over 6 mo I alternate between ibprofan and acetometifin one every 3 hours and set an alarm at night and wake them to do it I skiped one when he was really sleeping well and he wolk up and hour later with a temp of 102.5, I dont try to use cool water because that can cause them to shiver which will raise their temp, just put 'em in loose clothes, I dont know about yours but when mine has a fever he dosnt even sweat that when I know he's sick.

I rarely give my kids anything unless the fever is high enough to call the doctor (103). The fever is helping their little bodies fight something off so in a way it's good to have a fever. I just give them lots of fluids and rest - and of course lots of snuggles.

well with my two younger boys a temp is very dangrous for them, they have seizuers so what has always worked best for me is motrin and warm baths because you dont want them to get the chills cuz that just causes the body temp to rise to warm them... and if the motrin dont work you can give tylonal also... if my kids temp is too high and i dont feel good about it i give the tyonal and motrin together that is also safe to do.

I do a lukewarm bath, tylenol, and if doesn't go down as much as I would like, I will rotate with Motrin every 4 hours. I follow the guidelines from www.askdrsears.com.

my doc says (after all that stuff - except you should use a luke warm bath, not cool water...although there is only a slight difference) to call after 24 hours of temp. if temp is high (i say 102 falls in the high category) and won't go down with tylenol, try alternating tylenol and advil every 3 hours (which is safe to do). other than that..keep her hydrated and not too warmly dressed.

if there are no other symptoms, and the temp goes down, i tend not to worry too much. if there are other symptoms, that's when i get nervous.

I would got with motrin, Tylenol is not so hot for the liver. I work in a Gastro office, and one of the doctors told me this. Also, if the fever doesnt get above 101, dont give anything. Fever is the body's natural defense against infection, so it should run its course, just monitor it to make sure it doesnt get too high. Cool damp rags do work well. Hope this helps!

Tylenol never worked for my son, so that might be it. Motrin or Advil were (are still are) are the only thing that would work. I usually would piggy back those two med. together. Meaning you would alternate giving each med. every 4hrs. However, pediatrics no longer recommend this method to parents because parents were over dosing there kids by accident. I hope your lil one gets better soon

Give Tylenol, if it's still above normal I give Ibuprofen 2 hours later, and if it's still high I give Tylenol again 4 hours after the first dose and continue alternating. I weight base the dosage (your doctor or doctor's nurse can give you the appropriate amount for this) so they get as much as they can tolerate safely without overdosing. If the temp doesn't go down to 99's with that, I bring them in to the ER within 6 hours. Also, if their temp isn't normal within 2 days they need to either go to the ER or clinic depending on how well they are. Always count wet diapers when ill, because dehydration is a major problem, and push fluids.

If our son has a fever and seems to be in pain I will give him Tylenol and sometimes a luke warm bath. Of course checking the fever every hour or so and keeing in touch with the Doc. if need be. Also a ton of tender loving care from Momma too!

My daughter is almost 7 months and she hasn't had a temperature quite as high as your daughter's. Her temperature was just a couple degrees above the average so I gave her some infant tylenol then checked again and it was normal. She was having a teething episode.

If it was worse I would have done what you explained.
