Terrible Twos and terrible ones

I have a little girl who has really bad temper tantrums and a one year old boy that has equally bad tantrums. He is into everything he cant walk yet but tries to climb anything and throws a tantrum if I try to take him away. has anybody got any ideas haw to stop the tantrums for both children cause its driving me mad

thanks for your response im pulling my hair out they are as good as gold in school and the babysitter its just me they play up for

A few things can be done. If it's possible, completely ignore it (and make sure they know you are "ignoring" it, by walking around them, calling their name and looking for them, etc, and not being able to "see" them until it's over). You could also imitate them. They (especially once they're 2 and older) see how idiotic it looks and will laugh, and stop using it to get their own attention fairly quickly although they'll scream louder during that particular tantrum. We also take pictures of them during the huge ones, just to remember them by! And it quickly becomes a "posing"-fest. Out of 3 two year olds in the house, we only have 2 that have major tantrums; one had 3 two weeks ago, none last week, the other had one yesterday and none in a couple months prior. They still happen but are quite rare. And NEVER cave in.
