Hi,
I am just wondering if any you lovely mums have used or are using the BabyWise Method. I began using the 'Parent Directed Feeding' regime and the sleeping pattern for my little girl but have since stopped after my research uncovered a lot of a negative feedback. I am just wondering what everyone else thinks.

I agree with the other girls, you have to do what you think is right for your family. However, I don't like babywise. I did a little research about it myself, and I discovered I really a big believer in on demand feeding. You can put them on a schedule regarding other things, such as sleeping as they get older, but if a baby is hungry, a baby should eat. That was my major issue with the babywise method.

Katherine, What has puking got to do with CIO??? If used correctly then a child would not vomit because of CIO. :)

Not into it at all. Then again a puking baby isn't for me either (CIO) I never really followed a regime per say with mine, I just kind of 'went with it' Hungry? Let's eat, tired? Let's sleep. I mean I have a 4yo so obviously she has some routine but for a little one? Na. I don't think they have the capacity to be trained without doing some kind of psychological damage. That's my opinion.

I agree with Jodi. Each kid is an individual, and even if 90% of a parenting method works perfectly for your kid, that other 10% might be ALL wrong. If there's something in BabyWise that was working really well, and your kid was happy, healthy and thriving on it, then keep it. And dump the rest.
The only real "method" that I used with Sam right away was the practice of setting a consistent bedtime routine (bath, swaddling, bottle and bed). Other than that, it's been mostly trial and error.

What do I think? I think you should go with what WORKS for you and your baby. There are all these various methods of parenting out there, and in my opinion, you take from all of those methods whatever works for you, and dump the rest. You will probably find that you will be happy with some parts of Method 1, and not others, and some parts of Method 2 work for you, but not others, etc.
Our babies are individuals, as are we, and therefore, we all have differnt parenting methods. Following a particular method, in my opinion, is closing yourself to learning together as mother and baby.
