There is no need to be rude is there?

[deleted account] ( 28 moms have responded )

Ok I have read a few posts on this site that have shocked me. I thought this was suppose to be a site about mother's helping mother's, not a fight fest. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but we could at least state what we want to say in a civil way. No body is out to call anyone a bad mother and if you don't like what someone has to say about a subject you do have the option of exiting out and ignoring it. Obviously as mothers we all have different methods and parenting styles. So, so what if someone asks a question and another mum gives an answer you don't agree with, in my opinion this gives no one the right to attack that mother in anyway. They in the end are only trying to help a mum in need and are stating what worked for them. So lets all lead by example and stay friendly and civil towards each other. We are all just mothers trying to raise our kids the best way possible.

you are right there is no need , even opinions that differ can be stated in a mature fashion that is why we encourage all members to read the pinned threads , unfortunately with such a large group of women and a few controversial threads thrown in it can get heated .

The main page is a great way to introduce yourself and get to know COM i do recommend finding smaller communities on COM that suit your interests , i for one have made many friends in the smaller groups who i talk to frequently .

Please do not be deterred by some of the more heated threads there is a community on COM to suit everyone and we ( the moderators) are doing our best to keep the peace on this community board .

And remember if you see something that goes against our guidelines you can flag it as inappropriate for us to review .

Here is a link to the COM guidelines:http://apps.facebook.com/circleofmoms/th...

This is so true. I was accused of being mean the other day when I was really trying to be helpful but perhaps we could remember that sometimes the intention behind a post is lost as we all interpret things a little differently. Also some of us are naturally a little tactless and maybe we come across as being rude when we're not intending to be.

Hi Sharon

I sent you a message after that happened to you. I hope you received it! Glad to see your still here

I 100% agree with this comment. We are all here to find opinions of parenting our kids. Not negetive attacks! Who needs more negativety in our lives?Who ever this lady is, she is awsome to post this not for everyone. Great for you! :)

Thank you for saying this, and everyone who posted your agreement! I was just in this very situation (being attacked) last week!! I almost left COM because of it!
Mom's helping Mom's is what this is about! :)

There was a thread a few months ago saying the same thing and I must admit I have seen a great improvement in behaviour since then. It was much worse than it is now. Maybe this little reminder will help the moms here remember what this group is for and that everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Excellent Vanessa, being a mom is hard enough as women we should be more engaging and supportive of each other!

Amen my friend! I can appreciate our differences as it is all a learning experience. Afterall, we are adults and our kids learn by example.

I always loved the ideal of COM (Mums supporting Mums) but its a topic that really sparks emotions. I think most people manage to say things in at least a civil or friendly way... but a friendly reminder about manners doesnt hurt either :)

I think if we all model the kind of positive, supportive behaviors that we came here to benefit from, others will follow suit. The Admins and Moderators need your help, so if you see people violating our guidelines (No T.H.U.M.P.S.!), rather than attacking them for it, flag the posts as inappropriate and the Admins and Mods will help out. Thank you for saying this. I can't believe how rude some of the people on here are. We are mothers and should be leading by example like you said. I say that if there's something that you wouldn't say when you're around your kids, you shouldn't say it at all.

I very much agree with you all the way! Although, we are all entitled to our own opinions, I really think that most of us get impassioned to the point that we get carried away, specially with subjects close to our hearts.

I agree 100%. I believe a lot of the rude women on here are more rude because they hide behind a computer screen. Most of the time they agrue with another lady and end up forgetting what the post is all about. We are ALL mothers,we wouldnt want our children being rude to strangers so we shouldn't be rude to one another either!!!.

Thank you! i have just joined and was sooo upset that people were attacking each other and not just giving helpful advice or positive feed back to some of the questions. I joined because I thought this site was for moms to help each other out! so thank you for your comment! yes we have our own ways and have a right to our comments but we r all adults/moms and can be nice to each other!

I have to say I agree even if I did just tell someone they were completely wrong for something...I will admit it wasn't a high point for me. So, I will snap outta it and be more supportive...ty for reminding me why I am here :)
