Okay, So, Ever Since I've Been Exercising A Lot More, My Period Has Been Irregular. It's Actually Been Irregular Since I've Had My Son Over A Year Ago. Anyways, I'm Not On Birth Control And Have Been Abstinent For The Last Two Years.. So There's No Way I Could Get Pregnant From Anything Else Right?

Are you still breastfeeding? I agree with the pcos comment.pcos is polycystic ovarian syndrome. It can cause irregular periods and can be helped by diet. However, as a lactation consultant you may be supressing estrogen by breastfeeding. It is possible that if you breastfeed more due to higher demand, you could suprress your periods. In general with breastfeeding your periods will return later. You may resume periods after 3 months or in some cases go for as long as a year before returning to regular periods. In any case it is all hormonal. Diet, exercise, stress, wt loss, medicines, all can affect our hormones.

Yoga is actually good for this. If your so inclined. Apparently it helps with irregular periods.

Well, abstinent means NO SEX right? So there's no way to get pregnant. Many women who exercise a lot have "irregualr" cycles. I was a very athletic girl from before the age I started having periods all the way through high school and never had a 28-day cycle. Although I'm not as active as I used to be, I still have more like a 45-day cycle. I was told it's supposed to be more "regular" after the birth of your first child, but not for me! Just like every pregnancy is different, every menstral cycle is different and anything can cause it. It's not bad to not have a 28-day cycle, but if you have been having unprotected sex and it seems you've gone longer without your period you may be pregnant.

Get in touch with your OB/GYN. It will help to speak with a healthcare professional who can check things for you. If your worried enough to ask for help in the internet, then you should ask your doctor.
Also losing a significant amount of weight could be affecting your hormone levels.

My period became irregular after the birth of my second child. I kept waiting for things to fix themselves, but it kept getting worse. I went to the Gyn and, after a vaginal ultrasound, was diagnosed with a cyst. I take the Depo shot to decrease the size of the cyst and I LOVE not having any periods and/or worrying about accidents!

You need to get your hormone levels checked as well b/c if your thyroid is malfunctioning it can affect your period. Lots of doctors (especially men) will tell you that sometimes your body goes thru changes but keep on them. Most women aren't diagnosed with most woman cancers until its too late b/c they aren't taken seriously.

Keep in mind that it is necessary to have at least 4 periods over 12 month's time. Assuming that one has all of their original "lady parts," cycling less than 4 time a year greatly increases the risk of developing cancers of the uterus. I have personal experience with this as I had only cycled twice last year...10 months apart. I had to have tests to verify the health of my uterus. I do not have the option of taking BC pills due to other issues, but there are other ways to regulate things. Please do check in with your doctor, if only to double check that thing are fine.

Yeah I had irregular periods before I conceived Logan and the ultrasound chick asked me if it took ages to conceive because I had polycystic ovaries. Stress can stuff with them too and overexercising.

You are correct. You can't become pregnant if you are not having intercourse. Stress can do numerous things to your body including delay your periods. For me, having kids helped to regulate my periods.

Well, I've Never Breastfed My Son, Bottle Feeding Is All I've Done With Him. I've Been Dieting For Over A Year And Have Lost Over 70lbs. I Don't Take Any Birth Control Or Meds. I Actually Do Yoga A Lot In My Workout Sessions. (: My Period Just Goes From The First To The Middle To The Last Of The Month. It's Hard To Tell When It Will Get Here.

Exercise can disrupt a menstral cycle and so can stress and a hormone imbalance. If an irregular period bothers you then see your gp, if not don't worry about it.

Being on Birth control can regulate your periods. i actually have irregular periods as well and it will fix it . the patch or seasonal ( 4 periods a yr) . you will either take off your patch at a certain time of the month and it will always be on time

Being pregnant is not the only reason why you could have irregular periods. Trust me, I know. I suffer from PCOS which has several characteristics, one of which is irregular periods. If it really concerns you, go talk to your doctor. You would not be the first woman who did not get symptoms of a condition until after her first child.
