stop playing with the dog once the dog starts to get annoyed with them?

My dad helped me teach my daughter that to play with the dog we use the doggie toys but as of right now I'm more concerned with the fact that she's added JUMPING, ROLLING, and SITTING on the dog to that mix. I've done the seperate the two of them and place her in time out for starting angle which actually worked for oh about A MONTH before she was right back at it.

The dog is pretty patient with her so I'm not worry that he will really hurt her just yet.....he mostly growls his annoyance at her and waits for one of us to remove her or he bares his teeth at her and grabs her shirt to signal he's done. She doesn't take the hint and I feel so bad to have to put him out on the porch until they both settle down. He's not a big guy either....small Chihuahua mix but the funny thing is SHE LEAVES MY MOM'S BIG GUYS ALONE! She won't even touch my mom's Irish setters or Dalmatian.......just her doggie.

I'm out of ideas and I know the dog must think I'm punishing him for getting annoyed at her when we seperate them......so how do you do it? Even my brother, who retaught his son not to do this, is out of ideas.........I refuse to get rid of my dog only because SHE WON'T LET ME. When we put him out on the porch for the seperation period she will literally sit at the door crying until we let him back in. We use to put him behind a gate but she was climbing it to get to him so it's the porch now.

There are times when she will climb onto the back of the couch with a blanket, put her head on his hip, and just lie there watching cartoons without bothering him so I know she can do it.

It's sooo frustrating!

How old is she? ARe you in the states? Seriously I'd call the Dog Whisperer, see if he won't come help you (( doubtful as this man is super busy from what I see on his website)) But on his show, Chis are in the most difficult episodes. My sister has one and she is the alpha female in her home, and her chi Tyke was trying to dominate her, it took her at least 3 minutes to get him to submit ( that is a very long time)

I would be very careful with your daughter and that dog, it seems being bit is only a matter of time.

Also you are thinking about your dog in a human nature. Dogs don't think that way. Dogs live in the moment. But this is a situation why dogs bite. You need professional help with this dog!!!

I am assuming that you have tried to explain to her about what this does to the dog and how she is annoying him and making him angry, so perhaps trying to show her how annoying it can be! What I mean is to constantly do something that annoys her - something that stops her from being able to do something she wants to and when she starts to lose her temper turn to her and tell her that is exactly how your dog feels when she won't leave him alone even when he's asked her to by baring his teeth or growling, etc. Sometimes only by showing them what the problem is in a way they can understand will do the trick.

I don't know if that will work - but it's the only thing left I can think of and know it worked for other things for my son when he was young - like when he constantly interrupted a programme I loved to watch even when asked not to or had been allowed to stay up so long as he didn't interrupt. I annoyed him as much as he had annoyed me and then he got it!
