I discipline my daughter by putting her in time out in her room. I don't really like doing this because then all she does is play with her toys. I don't have room in my apartment for a time out spot, no corners or anything like that and I've heard that you should stay in the same room for a time out spot. Anybody have any ideas about where to have her time out?

I agree with Jenny, a small chair or stool facing a wall. I think the Super Nanny used a pillow. I use time out as well and it works great. Used it three times for about 30 seconds when my daughter was 18 months or a bit younger, it all blends together after a year, she was bitting. Now she doesn't bite.
You could go all out and get one of those fancy time out chairs with the timer right on them! They $$ but kinda cute.

Hi Chelsey.............I'm a single mom of 2 sons...........21 and 19. They were raised with "time-out" and gotta tell ya, they are good kids. We lived in a trailer park when they were young. They had a lil table with chairs. I would move the chair (or have them move it) to the corner where the kitchen cabinets met when they needed time out. Corners are good spots because they really can't be looking around at too much or have alot of stimulation. I then set the timer for 1min/yr (when they were 2---2 min time outs). When the bell rang, they knew they could get up. They always stayed on the chair. I started time outs at around 18 months. It's really not that difficult to "hang out" in a room for the few minutes that they are in time out. I agree that the bedroom is just inviting play time. I didn't do that until they were older.

I myself dont do the time out thing.. I hit his hand when he touches something after I told him not to. BUT i dont hit his hand hard.. he's 12 months and he listens most of the time. .. :) So it works.. Also if he listens i give him something he likes and i tell him what how amazing it is when he listens!!! :) Good luck

Some people i've seen do time out on the couch.. ?? Like Jenny replied.. In the same room you're in so you're aware that he/she is still in time out.. :)

I use a small chair that I take into whatever room I'm in so that the so I can moniter that my son is sitting in it. Otherwise he'll pop right out as soon as I turn my back lol. It takes a couple of corrections but eventually he gets it.
