Hi! My son David will be three in September and I have a 2 month old boy Avery... two packs of diapers is getting costly and I'm wondering if anyone would mind sharing some tips on how they potty trained theyre young boys. He's got the hang of going to the potty, but if he has clothes on he will just pee in his pants, weather it's a diaper or "big boy underpants". If he has nothing on, he will go to the potty. HELP! any tips ae welcome! Thank you!

I trained my boys straight to the toilet. Thy had a step and a seat and just did it automatially. I have to admit I trained them both in the summer months when it was hotter and they just wore there pants and a T-shirt. When you train never put your child back into a nappy in the day as this gives them confusing signs. If your child does not make any effort to go to the toilet do not rush to clean them up as you want them to get the idea that peeing and pooping in your pants is uncomfortable and smelly. Leave them for a bout 10 minutes. They will soon get the idea that going to the toilet is nicer than sitting in smelly clothes. Good luck

I potty trained my son at 2 1/4 as well.... I inititally started after his 2nd Bday - he just wasnt ready.... I waited 3 months and WOW - what a difference. I was prepared, calm, excited and so was he....I went and made a bin and had him decorate it with me and I went to the store and spent about $ 20.00 on organic lollipops, M & M's , cars, stickers, bubbles, etc ..... I told him everytime he went to the potty he could pick something from the bin - he was thrilled. I also made sure he had very little on - T-shirt and underwear . Also we have 3 bathrooms in the house and I had potty seats, step stools, wipes, books, etc. in every bathroom ready to go. I did start off at first with a potty chair - but found he got the concept easier by using the toilet. I did not use pull-ups at all (I think they are confusing - its a diaper) even at night - I used heavier training underwear for the night, a waterproof matress pad and stopped all liquids more than an hour before bedtime. After a few minor accidents - he was trained in 1 week!!!
Good Luck - try not to stress - it just makes it harder for everyone!!!

Hi, Ellie :) for my little boy i used a favourite bear with a pair of undies on and asked my son to take teddy to the potty (making sure he takes his undies off) he got the hang of it pretty quickly. I also traded the 'potty' for a seat that goes on the toilet with steps going up to it ( just make sure he feels secure on it- handles are helpful) That way he got to feel like a big boy going to the adults toilet (it also meant no more emptying a potty!) All in all he had it all figured out within 2 months and 1 month after that he stopped wearing a pullup to bed- haven't had an accident since! I started him at 2 1/2. Hope this helps
