To Fly or not to Fly?

My husband and me would like to go on a trip before our second baby arrives. My mother in law offered that she would watch our daugther since she took time off work. I mentioned it to my husband and he got all excited :) We do live in Canada and we would be flying into the USA. We do have health insurance/coverage. I'm worried that I would go into labor on the plane or go into premature labor once we reached our destination. I did read that it's perfectly fine to fly while pregnant, unless it's a risky pregnancy or if you have health problems or if it's realitively close to your due date. In general I am a worry wart. I tend to worry about everything. I'll be starting my 3rd Trimester when we would by flying. My due date is May 7th, so I do have a couple of months. Has anyone else flown during their 3rd Trimester? Am I worrying too much? My doctor said that it's fine for me to travel, just make sure that we do have the coverage just incase something does happen. The planes that we would be on will be pressuraized. I would just like some input :) Thanks to anyone who replies :)

Thanks everyone for the advice & input :) It put my mind at ease :) I'm going to talk to my husband more about and double check with my doctor for sure! Thanks again everyone :)

I flew with my first pregnancy when I was about 29 weeks and had no problems, if your dr. thinks it is fine and you are have no complications I was told i could fly all the way up until about 36 weeks.  When I flew, my dr. gave me a copy of all of my recent medical records concerning the pregnancy just in case I were to go into labor unexpectedly while away on my trip, that made me feel better.  You might consider asking for a copy of your records, that way if the unexpected were to happen you will be better prepared to get the best care possible, just a suggestion.  Go on the trip and enjoy yourself!!

I am a flight attendant and flew for work until I was 5-6 months along and for pleasure right up until the final week that the airline no longer allows a pregnant woman to fly (I think its 34 weeks, unless you have doctors note). Although sitting on the a/c is uncomfortable with your belly taking up so much room, its not unsafe. Clear it with your Dr., but I think you will be just fine. Just try to move about the aircraft a bit during the flight - as long as its not turbulent. That will help with the discomfort of sitting with your big belly!

I have been told that it's not safe to fly in the last few months of pregnancy, but each to there own since not everyone has the same risks in pregnancy as others. If your doc said ok then relax and enjoy yourself, after all...one child is easy but when the second comes you may find yourself too busy to do much for a little while. Treat yourself, I am a worry wart too, but I think that worrying in pregnancy just stresses out the baby anyway so if you relax then you should be fine.... Have fun, and I hope you enjoy your trip!!!!

I flew later in 2nd pregnancy. . .Can't remember if it was 3rd trimester or end of second. . .And except for the fact that I was toting a 2 yr old along, everything went fine. You should be ok.
