i had an sacn yesterday and i was told i was having twins but one didnt form and the other died at 7 weeks i am ment to be 11 weeks now has the hospital ever been rong

The ultrasound showed that all my girls were girls, and it was correct. However, this pregnacy I was told that I was having a boy! Sooo after 4 girls needless to say I was shocked and happy!!! I was sooo sick this pregnancy unlike with my girls, but I did not know... as far as the heart rate I was always told that boys have faster heart rates, but you never know! I will say that it is easy to tell a boy especially if he has no problem wanting to show his man parts. I know that mine didn't, but I have to admit that I did seek a second opinion to make sure that they were right just because I wanted him so much!! Good Luck to you though!

Usually for boys they are usually dead on especially if they had you look too. I had a boy and then a girl, both ultrasounds were correct. Now I'm pregnant with twins (a boy and a girl) we can definitely tell a difference, lol! The twins heartbeats have been pretty much the same however, hers is usually a little bit faster. It is in most cases a wives tale though!

It happened to a girl I work with. She had several ultrasounds throughout her pregnancy and all said she was having a boy. She bought boy clothing, decorated the nursery blue and then delivered another little girl.

Wishing you the best when you go for the 4-Dscan as parents yes aslong as there healthy is most important but its lovely to be able to have a boy if you have a girl already and the other way around its only natural to feel that way.A lot of moms feel that and would love it but are always still just as happy if not.:-)

Thank you everyone for responding, it was interesting to read what you had to say :) My husband and I are happy regardless, we just would have like to have one of each. I thought I was having a girl ( gut feeling ) but am happy to hear the baby's healthy - regardless the gender. I am requesting another ultrasound, and asking that they do a 4-D scan, so we'll know for sure and get extra pictures :)

Wives tale! My daughters heart rate was 160bpm and now preg with a boy with heart rate 171bpm so it doesnt mean a thing.

I think in this day and age they are pretty accurate. Years ago it was difficult to tell but if your baby was lying the right way they would of had time to have a good look. When I had my first son nearly 18 years ago my friend was pregnant at the same time and she was told she was having a girl and had a boy. She was not upset about the sex of the baby but the fact that she had painted the nursery pink! The scans then were not as clear as they are now. I would say 100% it's a boy. It's not his fault hes a boy so I hope you are not to disapointed. I also wanted a girl for my second pregnancy and had a boy and I was conviced I was having a girl. I was so depressed when he popped out that I told the midwife to take him away. It took me several months to bond with him and now as a rational human being I can't beleive I did that to my child. My God he is my heart and soul but the want for a daughter never went away and 15 years later and three miscarriages my daughter was born and she is the icing on the cake. OMG. I had 5 ultrasounds telling me my BOY was a GIRL. It was bizarre. I had this strange feeling that they were all wrong and that I was having a boy. I didn't buy anything pink because I just felt like he was a boy. I was right! I found out on my 34 week 3D ultrasound that he was a boy. The nurse was so surprised that I had been told by 5 scans and 2 different doctors that I was having a girl! I was relieved because I knew it was finally right. I will never ever ever find out the sex of my child before he/she is born again LOL.

Boy, Girl, Girl, my ultrasounds were all guessed right! They are pretty accurate now-a-days! Everyone kept telling me all these different things like 'your tummy is sitting low, the ring test says, but the heartbeat is fast/slow', in the end, only the ultrasound was right!

I wouldn't go by the heartbeat thats an old wives tale! I have known people who have been told they were having a boy and then had a girl.... i have also heard of people being told they were having a girl and then had a boy! If your ultasound tech is pretty sure i'd go by that or wait until you have another ultrasound to confirm it! i just found out yesterday i'm having a boy... and by the looks of the ultrasound i'm pretty sure they are right!

When we were told we were having a girl i asked are you sure and the tech said that they can never be sure and expecially for a girl as its alot harder to see a girl then a boy. They can onlky give you a 70% chance that it is a girl where with a boy i think its in the 90% so most likely your having a boy. If your still unsure have another ultra sound or see if they or anyone where you live do 4D ultra sounds. They are amazing. You get to see your baby so clearly. We had it at 25 weeks and they told us then that she was deffenetly a girl.

Yes on my first i was told i was having a boy well a beautfiul girl came out and shes five today.My second i found out at 37weeks we were having a girl and they were right but my daughter had a faster heart beat so if that means a boy its wrong.:-)My scan on my second was done at 19weeks and the doc said i cant tell,but one of the scan pics was an image looking down on my baby so i could see face,body and her legs were open and i could see what looked to me like a girl and i was set before i ever found out i was right.I was like why wasnt i told it was clear as day in the scan.Best of luck wishing you all the best and a healthy bundle of joy.

I was told I was having a boy with my first, but the heartbeat was high. The ultrasound was right. With my second, there was a lower heart rate, and the ultrasound showed a girl. The ultrasound was right. I was also told that it's not just is there a penis or not. The ultrasounds are really quite specific.

Usually, you can determine if it's a boy by the genitals as early as 14wks. I was told I was having a boy because the tech clearly saw and pointed out his private area. I was hoping for a girl but will still be blessed with another boy & my son will have a brother to play with lol.

Don't go by the heartbeat. My son's heartbeat was always faster at the beginning. I was also told at my 20 week ultrasound that it was a girl but the imbilical cord was in the way. It is easier to tell if its a boy if you get a good view.

The heart rate thing is a wives tale. If the tech was 100% certain that it's a boy, I'd go with that. Maybe in your case it's best to wait and be surprised!

I was told i was having a boy and my baby had a fast steady heart beat and it turned out to be a girl and i really had my hopes up for a boy so they can never really tell and i had several ultrasounds due to what they thought was complications which turned out to be normal...Good luck and if u want a girl u might still get her....Good Luck I would never trade my angel for a lil Boy now tho for nothing......lol

Ultrasound said I was having a boy with my third and it was right. Couldn't tell with the first two. Although the doctor thought that my second was a boy because of a slow heartbeat but she is a girl :). My fourth is due in 8 weeks and the ultrasound tech told me a girl and then right at the end he said " no wait I was wrong its most likely a boy" so who knows. I guess this last one will be a surprise too.

Heart beats mean nothing to me...my son had a fast heartbeat and i had hyperemesis so EVERYONE thought i was having a girl...WRONG! My second turned out to be a girl and she had a slow heartbeat and i wasn't sick at all lol. It's a myth for sure to go by heart beat. We weren't told with either of our kids what we were having and i loved the surprise.
Keep in mind a boy part is much easier to see then a girl part too. A boy can be tucked away however and you might end up being told you have a girl and end up wtih a boy. It is unlikely the tech was wrong. It was actually my obgyn who told me at 38 weeks i was having a girl and she did this just by touching my stomach. I asked her how much my baby would be, because she was only off by 3ozs or so with my frist and she looked at us kind of funny and said well i'm going to say you're having a girl because she is smaller then your first and that is what we ended up with.
Keep in mind that before a Dr apt for the heart doppler, if you eat closer to your appointment the heart rate of the baby will be higher then the last time. If you eat sugar right before, it will most certainly be faster, if you have to walk further to get in to the office because there is no close parking spot, again it can be higher.

ok I dont know if this is true but I ve heard that its more common for them to say its a boy and have a girl, than the other way around, my mom was told I was boy :)

but other than her I dont know anyone else who was told wrong :)

they told me my daughter was a girl all along and she had the slower "lazy" heartbeat of a boy :)
