My 12 month old son is cutting his 12 month molars and I noticed a "black/purple" spot where the one tooth is under the gum. Is this normal? Or is the discoloration the tooth. All the other teeth have a white-like spot where they are just below the surface of the gum...don't know whether or not to call the doctor. Please help!

His teeth came in fine, apparently it was a blood vessel too close to the tooth, when it finally broke through, there was some blood, where the others there was none. He is fine now!

my daughter is now getting what i think is her 1 year molars and about a week ago I saw it was all black and blue. I freaked thinking it was a rotten or dead tooth somehow, but called the dr he said it was ok. But its been over a week no tooth and still very bruised & swollen. How id your little one's turn out?

My daughter's teeth had the white-like spot before they came in. I would try calling your doctor's office and talk to one of the nurses. Sometimes they can tell you whether you need to bring your baby in to see a doctor based on the symptoms you give them. Good luck!
