Uses the potty... but PETRIFIED OF USING THE TOILET! any ideas?

My son is 2 and a half and is toilet trained... using the potty. This is great, however going out is such a hassle as we either have to leave or I have to take the potty with me. Iv'e tried saying to him "we will have to go home from this fun place or you have to use the big toilet" I take him in to the toilets and sit him on it and cuddle him because he has mentioned that he thinks he is going to fall in... I constantly reassure him... but he wont do anything in the toilet because he is so scared... and then no matter how much fun he is having he just wants to go home...

Have you thought about getting a travel seat? They are foldable and easily carried in the nappy bag (just carry some disinfectant wipes to wipe it over before and after use) and it can make the little ones feel better as they can balance properly and dont feel like they will fall in. You can also get proper ones for the toilet at home. This is the ony way my daughter woul use the toilet.
