i am just curious to know if any moms do NOT agree with giving your children live vaccines or any at that...and what are the chances of the children getting sick from them?

Have you seen what happens to children if they contract the actual disease instead of having the vaccination???? I would much rather have my child vaccinated than get extremely ill or even die form the disease!! Reasearch what each shot is for and what can happen if they don't have the shot!! All of my children are up to date with their shots and I would rather that than the sickness! We have had an outbreak of Whooping Couph in Australia recently and several babies died from it, Whooping Cough is something that can be prevented, so why not prevent it??? Everyone has an opinion on this topic, but I personally would rather have the shot's done!!

Chances from getting sick are slim to none. The viruses are MODIFIED to take out the part that makes you sick (virulence). The parts left over are not infective but give your immune system enough information to "attack" should they see it.

Teaching your body to "attack" invaders (bacteria and viruses) is the reason for vaccines.

You all are wonderful thanks for all the great input on this....my husband and i have different inputs on this situation he doesnt agree with giving them shots, but i so far have both of my children up to date but there is always that worry that something could happen either way lol.

I've had both of my kids vaccinated, the only one I haven't given them was the flu shot, only because I've heard bad things and I couldn't find enough information to convince me otherwise.

Both mine were fine, my oldest felt abit sorry for himself for a while but that was about it

This is such a personal decision, but I believe that it is one that you need to be fully informed before you can make it. I have found a wonderful website that will enable you to do this. It will give you all the details of vaccine, including any side effects (including many that the doctors don't / won't tell you about). You can also drill down and get the data sheets for each vaccine as well. so you really know what your child is having. For anyone that wants to have a look, it's http://avn.org.au/Vaccination-Informatio...

I would thoroughly recommend having a look at it before you vaccinate.

Prior to having children, I fully believed in immunising my children, and felt that those parents that didn't were being irresponsible.. My first child, who has just turned 3, has been fully immunised. I had serious doubts about him having the MMR vaccine, due to all the talk about it having been linked to autism. However, I went against my feelings and I had him immunised. At 2 1/2 years old, he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Was it related to his vaccine? That's a question that we will never get answered, but I will always wonder.

My second son is now 13 months old. He was fully immunised up to and including his 6 month needles, but he hasn't had his 12 month shots, and he isn't going to.

I have done a lot of soul searching, as well as internet research, and now that I am fully informed I won't be immunising my children anymore, with the exception of whooping cough and polio.

Did you know that children that are imminised don't have lifetime immunity to the diseases they are immunised against, but if they actually get the disease without being immunised, they do have lifetime immunity? Yes, the disease will be less severe if they are immunised, but they still get it.

Did you know that doctors actually get kick backs for having a certain percentage of their patients immunised?

Did you know that most of the vaccines (in Australia) aren't tested? We rely on the testing from overseas countries, and assume that our drugs are safe to give our children. This has recently been proven wrong with the swine flu vaccine that has had such bad side effects that children under 5 can no longer get it, and in Western Australia it is not being given to adults either.

Look, I'm not saying that either way is wrong. I know in my heart that I'm doing the right thing for my kids, but I'm still struggling with my decision due to the brain washing by doctors and the drug companies. I should point out though that I'm not struggling because I think I'm wrong, because I know that I'm not. And I've even had that confirmed by the Family and Child Health Nurse that I recently discussed it with.

Whatever decision you make here, I'm sure it will be the right one for you. Just please make sure that you are fully informed before you do anything. That's the most important thing.

If you don't at least in my state your child will not be able to attend public school.

All my children have had all there vaccinations since the day they were born. No way I would chance there lives by not getting them done.

i just know there have been bad things with flu shots and the hpv shot so im not really worried about those. all the others, my baby will get because they all make sense. but i never had to get an hpv shot, so i dont understand why thats even important (+ like i said, look up the thinks linked with that shot)

Used to they put mecury in the vaccines but not any more. The worst thing ever happend with my kids is a fever but that is normal. We always give them a bit of Tylenol before we go into the Dr. I do watch my kids really close for 24 hours to make sure there is no recation to the meds. But I would rather be safe than sorry for not having their shots done/

My daughter has had all of her shots except the flu shots. I give her a dose of tempra about a half hour before her appointment and at her worst she cries for 2 minutes. I was a little worried when she got her live shots because there is a small chance that they can get a mild form of the disease from the shot but it would still be contagious. This was only a concern because Fallon has a 5 month old cousin that she is around constantly. As it turned out she didn't even get a fever. Please vaccinate your child.

My kids took the shots without much anxiety, and just a little crankiness afterwards. I feel strongly about getting them some protection from these serious diseases, if they were to come into contact with a child/person, who was not inoculated, and risk serious injury/death, than to worry about a child being cranky or with a slight fever for a short time. There are still parts of the world where some of these diseases are still rampant, or making a come back, due to lack of immunization. I only wish that doctors would consider spacing out the shots a little more. Sometimes it is too many I think, for the child to have in one session.

I know it's each individual parents choice, but I can't imagine not doing whatever I could to insure that my children didn't get these diseases. All mine have had them with no side effects. I know there are dangers but they are so remote percentage wise to what would happen without them. you should also check with your school system. I know here they are required before you can enter them into public school. A few people I know that have chosen not to have had to seek alternative schooling, be it the cost of private school (some of those also require it) or homeschooling. Just know all the information you can and make the best decision for your child.

I so don't want to think about what would happen if I a child didn't get their shots - I know of one person that said when she has kids she isn't going to get them their shots because she thinks the shots are going to give her kids the disease anyway and some other far out ideals. My son got the measles and rubella - the thing is - it was far less severe than if he had not had the shots - he would have died they said. It is a far better idea to get the kids protected because there is that one time where you will probably think I sure wish I had done it...

I know of many kids that have faced health issues and thanks to having a boosted immune system they were able to recover a lot faster and without long term problems. It is up to each and every person if they want to immunize their children - but coming from a mom who's son has diabetes I am more than glad he has had all his immunization shots and regular flu shots (plus the H1N1 shot this year) because when a child has a health issue like diabetes and such - even a cold can have some pretty harsh side effects. Do your homework and do what you feel is best - all we can do is offer up situations and so forth on what we as parents have done or are doing...but I can honestly say a little fever after the shot and some crankiness is worth the protection I feel.

You'll have to do your own research about the chances of them getting sick. I do not believe there is any link between vaccinations and autism although some believe that there is. Both my children have been vaccinated and the only problems I have had is that they both got a little cranky the day of their shots. Good luck making your decision!
