Vegetarian Recepies

Last night I was watching this documentary called Vegucated (really great by the way!) and it was very interesting. I have decided that I would like to test out being a vegetarian for a while for many different reasons.

1. Vegetarians have lower chance of having heart problems and diabetes (both of which run in my family).

2. Vegetarianism can help you lose weight (let's face it, I'm a big girl and it wouldn't hurt for me to loose some pounds).

3. In the documentary, these three individuals ate nothing but vegan food for six weeks. By the end of the six weeks, all three lost weight, their blood pressure lowered, and the bad cholesterol in their system lowered.

I'm not trying to recruit anybody, but I was wondering if anybody has any recipes they would be willing to share with me.

I absolutely LOVE salads! I'm not really picky when it comes to my veggies, although brussel sprouts and squash are high on my eeewww list. lol

I have planned on talking to my midwife before I start with any major changes. I want to see what she has to say before I do anything too drastic. As it is, I don't really eat all that much meat because it usually makes me sick (there are somethings that have been harder for me to digest after I had my gall bladder taken out 3 years ago). Of course it doesn't help when I live in the South where meat and anything deep fried reigns freely! lol

But yeah! I would love any suggestions you might have!

Oh, and doing this kind of life changing food change might prove to be very difficult while you are pregnant. Not that it would be impossible, just very difficult. I know how I am with my preggo cravings, and this last pregnancy....I won't deny it. Many meats made my mouth water. Never had anything pass my lips, but my baby really wanted it.

Hey Lacye, been a vegetarian for almost 19 years. What kind of food are you thinking about? I have plenty of recipes, but mostly I live off of my salads. What kind of food do you like?

I was a Vegan for about 1 year. It was so difficult for me. I also got really sick. I felt like I was doing everything right, but man....then when I went back to being a straight vegetarian, I had an intolerance to milk. It took a while to get back to where I was. I just never quite felt healthy on the Vegan diet.

I have a great chili recipe but for some reason (likely my MH issue) I can't remember it to save my life. I'll work on remembering it and will PM you with it.

The documentary was about Vegan. I'm going to start off with Vegetarian and maybe work my way to Vegan.
