Walking bow-legged

My son has been walking for almost 3 months. I have noticed lately that he seems to be really bow-legged, especially on the left side. His doctor didn't mention any problems when we went in for his check-up but I am starting to worry. Is this something that goes away as he grows or should I bring my concerns up with his doctor? He is a pretty good size kid (almost 28 lbs and 32" tall!) and has big legs. I figure a little bow is normal since he hasn't fully developed his legs yet...maybe I'm paranoid!

Both of my children, now 8 and 9 were bow legged. They seemed to grow out of it, both by growing taller and by becoming a stronger walker. If his feet start to turn in, or once he becomes better at walking (4 or 5) and he walks with an awkward gait, then it definately should be brought up to the pediatrician. Until then, just watch him grow and it should straighten out :)

my twin daughters are pigeoned toed and when they were younger the doctor told me it's normal and that they should go straight. well they are 6 years old and are still that way. i asked again not to long ago and there doctor said that there is nothing they can do about it. but it isn't really bad, so i let it go.

I believe its ok. My son, who is now 2, has bow legs from birth till now. He still got it but it has grown out a lot, seeing that it was realy realy deep. I don't think it's something to worry about especial if your doc didn't say anything about it. It doesn't hurt to bring it up to him and hear what he says.

that's what I figured. His doctor said all of his 'creases' were even so everything looked normal.

Bow-leggedness is normal. The legs will straighten up once he has been walking for a while.

As long as he hasn't had any issues with absorption of nutrients and has a good diet (we were concerned about rickets since he was very ill at 10 months with an intestinal virus), he will probably grow out of it. Our doctor referred us to an orthopedic doctor. We had xrays and he just wanted to watch it for 6 months to a year. We watched the length of his legs to make sure they were growing at the same rate. The bones are still pretty soft when they begin walking but tend to straighten out over time at they grow taller. Our son, now 8, has had no problems and is not bow-legged. Getting taller every day!
