Being in your 40s definetly narrows your options however I think having a child is not out of the question for you, I know an older couple (50s) who have adopted two children through the foster care system, not easy but as always with little ones well worth all the hard work!

@Shanise - How do you honestly expect doctors/fertility experts to look at Larry & his partner as candidates for the "test tube method" as you call it - i.e. IVF - when he is early 40's and she is 49? Even assuming they have the funding for this?

Have you two sat down and talked about the options? Or how you felt? You can adopt or the testtube method? I think it very important to communicate your feeling on this topic and do research together on ways to resolve the issue of wanting a family together.

Shawnn, my bet is that they've already discussed this. In his other thread he says she's 49. That cuts out IVF.

He's stated he needs help in Arkansas. That sounds like he's looking for a surrogate!

Larry - have you had your own fertility investigated? Never assume that because you KNOW your partner is unable to have children that you actually CAN. It's becoming more common in some cases that when a couple have issues conceiving that it's down to BOTH partners, not just the man or the woman.

You might adopt but your girlfriend's age may count against you unless it's older children. I strongly suspect you want biological children and no other "solution" will be acceptable to you.

It depends on why your gf can't have a baby. You should discuss this between you and work from there. IVF may be a consideration.
