My son does the same thing since he's been teething. He won't take a pacifier, teether or anything. I just let him chew on the nipple because it seems he likes it and it's the only thing he will put in his mouth besides food.

If it is teething, try Camilia, its an all natural teething pain reliever. My daughter does the exact same thing, she prefers her food over her bottle, but she does drink her night time bottle. Camilia is inexpensive and it works great, along with a little Motrin or Tylenol!

My babies hated orajel when they were teething, thats when my pediatrician told me to try rubbing a bit of benadryl liquid on their gums to stop the itching. Worked perfectly, never had any more problems with teething.

also, watch for ear infections..sometimes they don't take the bottle because it hurts to suck. if he's more irrittated than normal, been stuffy, possibly running a temp. hoewever, keep in mind, kids can run low grade temps when teething too. Another good indicator on ear infection would be that he's not sleeping through the night too. sometimes teething pain can give referred ear pain. nothing you can do about that except tylenol or motrin. oh, and lots of love! :) Good luck!

I know how you feel, my son is 5 months old. It sounds like your son is teething and just wants it to chew on. Try some baby origel or a damp frozen wash cloth. He may just want to chew on something. Good luck

my son was the same way, he would cry for a bottle then just chew on it and drink it little by little. could it be that your 4month old might be teething? or he may not like the milk. those were my two things i had to go by. i changed the milk because he wouldnt drink. then he would chew in the nipple. thats when i noticed him teething, i didnt notice right away but it might be his top teeth coming in.

Maybe he's teething? That's what it sounds like to me, maybe try giving him some tylonol or motrin before giving him his bottle.
