I put my children in their own room right from the start. I wanted them to know that they had to sleep in there and that was that. I NEVER let them in my bed because it is very hard to get them back out!! My sons weren't scared in their own room and they slept much better cus it was quieter and they were secure

Don't judge me, but 2 weeks! My two were such noisy sleepers we couldn't get any sleep even when we weren't up feeding/changing etc. So we put them in their own room, with no monitor but left the doors open so we could hear them if they cried. It worked brilliantly for us.

Once you feel comfortable with your baby's routine they should be in their own room. With the current technology, you will hear your baby easily thru the monitor if they are not close enough!! Following thru with it can be hard - but well worth it...long term your baby will not have such a hard time with thier first spend the party with their best friend. Good luck :)

Babies are not meant to sleep separate from their mamas. It's not biologically natural.
And the bed is not the only place to be intimate.
And I giggle whenever I read "your baby will never leave your bed". Please tell that to my 15, 11, and 4 year olds! A baby sleeping with parents is natural and normal, not a "habit that's bad".
Our babies move whenever they're biologically and physically ready. Mine have ranged from a year to three years. It's all up to baby when they're ready to leave my safe and loving bed!

I moved my daughter into her room when she was about 5 1/2 weeks old and out grew her bassinet, but I'm also lucky because she sleeps through the night no problem.

The earlier the better in my opinion! Otherwise, it just makes the separation more difficult (for you and the baby) ... I started putting my son in his room at 2 months, but we will still let him sleep w/ us on weekends ... but, to make you feel more at ease, you could one of the baby monitors that you can attach a video camera to the crib, and you can watch your baby on a t.v. monitor. They have night-vision too! :)

well it really depends on the baby. some people make a nursery and the baby starts sleeping in it's own room from day one. but we all know how much of a pain it is to get up several times in the middle of the night and have to go to another room to tend to your child. so if you are like my husband and i you put your baby in your room for the first few months until he/she starts sleeping through the night. well we were lucky. our son put himself on a schedule around three months old. right now we alternate. sometimes he's in his own room and sometimes he's in our room. depending on how he's feeling. but some kids it could take up to a year. but if your child is sleeping well you could probably start putting him/her in their own room whenever you are ready. just make sure you have a monitor in your room so you can hear them when they wake up. i hope that helped.

My daughter is 2 months old and she have been in her own room since she was 1 month old. She pretty much sleeps through the night. We have a baby monitor in her room so we can hear her if she wakes up. The sooner the better. I make the mistake of letting our son sleep in our bed when he was a baby and had a hard time breaking him of it. He did it until he was 5 years old until my husband said enough is enough.

, the earlier the better , and I never let my 2 kids share our bed. Kids are babies and babies are very clever so dont take the habit.

My daughter was in her own room from day one. She has never entered my bedroom to sleep (unless she isn't feeling well). I didn't want to get her in the habit of coming into my room to sleep.

Someone please explain to me how you are able to have healthy "relations" with your husband if you have a child in your bed? We never put our daughter in our room. She started sleeping through the night at six weeks and now at nine months she loves her crib. We love her up at night, a kiss and a hug and then off with the lights so my husband and I can have a healthy relationship.
Methinks that parents aren't too creative if they think that healthy ''relations'' can only happen in bed at bedtime. How boring.

My son slept through the night at about 6 weeks but I didn't move him to his own bedroom until he was around 5-6 months old. I was really afraid of SIDs, and it's most common during the first 6 months (although still possible for the first year of life).

1 year old! As soon as they start to wake early in the morning. It is most likely because they bump their head in their cot. Getting too big for it.

always let your baby sleep in his/her own bed because as they grow older they will not want to sleep alone. Most importantly husband and wife will not be able to have alone time at all.

i had my baby girl in our room until she was 3 months old. After that, I put her in her own room and into the crib. She did wake up several times during the night to BF, but I didn't allow myself to bring her into our room again. It wasn't hard to leave her in her own room because duirng the day, I will have her take her naps in her own room from day one so she was used to being in the crib.

I had the same issue. My daughter wouldn't go to sleep on her own and i was a slave to her sleeping on me. My pediatrician told me its not child abuse to put them in their bed and let them cry themselves to sleep. He said by picking them up you are reinforcing their crying. The first time I let her cry for 30 minutes. It was hard but she went to sleep. I also did not let her sleep in her pack in play for naps. She knows that the crib is sleep time. Eventually she would cry for a few minutes and now not at all. She has been in her crib for 3 months and no problems. I am very happy with the outcome.

We put our baby girl in her own room/crib at four months; she was outgrowing the bassinet and seemed to want more room to stretch out. So it turned out to be a natural transition. We started putting her down for naps in her crib long before that, and would put her in there to look at the mobile and play, too, so it wasn't a foreign place to her at all.

The first day you are home from the hospital... then you don't have to worry about spending days/weeks/months/years trying to transition them to their own room. Baby normally sleeps better and so do mom and dad!
