My son is 7 months old and I want to wean him off of breastfeeding throughout the night. I know that he can sleep through the night but I think he doesn't because it's become habit for him to wake in the night and feed. He's waking up 3-4 times at night, feeding for at least 15 minutes then going right back to sleep. I'm hoping that weaning him off this will help him to sleep longer stretches at night. Any tips or suggestions???

i dont know much about breastfeeding cause i only did it for 3 months with my 2nd son, Landon, and not all with my 1st, Owen. Owen turned 2 in aug and untill recently he woke up about 4 times through the night for some milk. we talked to the doctor and she told us to switch to water and put him in his own room. we have yet to put him in his own room but he is only waking up on e through the night. Landon on the other hand was born in oct, i had to make sure he ate every 4 hours until he was 2 months then i was told just to feed him when he wanted to eat. He sleeps all night..form about 10:30 to between 6 and 8. The doctor told us to kind of ignore him for a little while to see if he goes back to sleep and the after about 5min then to do what you have to do.

a little cereal before bed(spoon fed) never hurt anyone :P. I still have a bowl every night and i'm 20.it should help him sleep longer.just breastfeed after the cereal then bedtime shortly after. good luck!!
