So my twin boys will be 1 year in just over a week (!) and I am in the process of weaning them. I have been exclusively pumping. I started the weaning process 5 weeks ago and have been very gradually ramping down, dropping one pump a week, then shortening the duration and pumped for what I hoped to be the last time on Tuesday.
But now my breasts are incredibly sore and swollen. I have been using cabbage leaves and supportive bras and taking advil. Is there anything else I should be doing? Do I just have to wait it out? Or would it be better to pump just a little bit to relieve the pressure? Does it eventually just go away??
I have a 4 year old and I have no memory at all about weaning him, i.e, what happened with "the girls". I don't think I got engorged, so this is different. But I was nursing with him, and I have been EPing for the twins (at the high point, getting 70+ ounces a day).
The complicating factor is that I am leaving the country on Sunday and was really hoping to be over any complications by then.
All advice appreciated!
Thanks,
Kim
