My 6 month old daughter has just started presenting with a red rash but it is just a spot here and a spot there, it's not like a regular rash. Any one have any idea of what this may be or what I can do about it? Her 6 mo appt is next week and I don't know if I should just wait til then or bump it up to have this checked. Thanks Ladies!!

Ok everyone, the doc thinks it is eczema. He told me to use Aquaphor by eucerin and it made it worse so now she is on a prescription cream. I just got it this morning and it already seems to be helping!! Thanks for all the responses!! Oh and she never scratches it or anything and it has never seemed to bother her.

My son had a red bumpy rash a few months ago and it was virus related.  In fact, it didn't even have a name.  It will go away but it is itchy.  If it is excema, I have used a lotion that got rid of my daughter's in 2 weeks.  The excema never returned.  I didn't want to take the chance that she may or may not outgrow it because I know adults that have had it as well.  I would see the doctor and go from there!  Good luck :)

Hi, It could be a virus rash (both my kids have had these instead of feeling very poorly) Could be rubella, harmless except to pregnant mums. Kids don't tend to feel poorly with it. Could even be ezcema related. Hope you find out soon but if your daughter is generally well and not bothered by it then I wouldn't worry until the 6 month check. Chris x

Two of my little ones have eczema. You have said that there has been nothing new introduced as far as food, etc. If there is no fever and does't seem to bother the little one, I would say it is safe to wait until the doctor appointment. We call eczema "itchies" in our house. It will look like little bumps and can turn red and scaley too. If it is eczema, cut down on the frequency of her baths, don't use strong perfumed soap or lotion (Baby Aveeno works best for us), and use lots of lotion during the day. Happy temp in the house for an eczema baby is around 68 degrees. Good news is that most children outgrow eczema. Bad news is, if it is eczema, it seems that eczema and asthma can go hand in hand. My oldest was diagnosed with Asthma 2 years after getting eczema. Good luck!

My son has eczema.  The doctor said the it is "an itch that rashes" .  Wherever your child begins to scratch, there will be the rash.  The winter is the worst time for it.  Lots of moisturizers!!!!

My son has been getting that this winter. My doctor wasn't too concerned. They said it's common and recommended hydrocortisone creme. But he is almost 4 years old. I would wait and see what the doctor says about using something like that on such a little lady. If it's in spots where you think it might be getting wet from sweat or drool, you might try Aquaphor. It's basically baby vaseline. Good luck!

Thanks Ladies. I thought it might be heat rash at first too but now I'm not really sure. She has some spots that are pretty decent sized and then just the little bumps like I'm used to seeing on heat rash. There has been nothing new introduced. It's cold, rainy/snowy here.

When in doubt just take her to her pediatrician.

If you want to wait until her well check, you can. Just be sure to take her if she develops a fever or the spots develop into something more concerning.

My daughter gets random red spots occasionally. Her pediatrician prescribed a hydrocortisone cream for her the last time. He said just to put that on her when she gets them. He told me what she's experiencing is a form of yeast infection in the beginning stages. That may or may not be what your daughter has. Your best bet is to get your Dr's diagnosis before you treat. :)

My daughter also had the same thing or at least it sounds like it and the doc also said it it was a heat rash. It never hurts just to ask her doctor to make sure!!
