At first the clenched hands really bugged me too with my boys...especially when they were stinking because they were always closed and sweaty:)....but like most everyone elses responses, once your little one begins to associate objects with his hands, and the grasping reflex he will learn to open them....for now with my little one (2months) I usually do little stretches flexing his palms open when he asleep, also when he is really relaxed in his baths....good luck :)

It's been my experience that at that age it's still normal. You might try patty cakes, having son handle more or slightly larger toys, have son reach out to you or toys, it will take time.

hey there!!! my baby girl is 3 month and has started exploring the world...i encouraged her by giving her colourful and thin toy rings that were easy to hold. she loves the moving colours as i swing them infront of her face and was soon streching her arm out to grab them. but i wud start off with letting him hold onto your finger and letting him suck and explore sumthing he is in contact with everyday to build his confidence.
"this little piggy" turned out to be a great game lol
enjoy and good luck

Hi Sara,
At that age it is quite normal for babies hands to be clenched into a fist. As they get older, their hands will slowly un-clench. However, once they start to grasp and try to reach out for objects, you will see a change.
Hope that helps :)
