My daughter is 22 months and she is not really talking. She says the basic mama, dada, no and like 3 other words. At what age should I start to worry? I try to get her to repeat but it doesn't really work? What do you moms think?

My son is also 22 months and only just started to say words, he just wasn't interested before because if he wanted something hed only have to grunt and point and his older brother and sister would get it for him.

There is such a wide range of speech abilities and anything from no speech up to speaking in complete, coherent sentences can be normal at this age. If she isn't talking more by 2 I'd certainly bring it up to the doctor, but not worry any just yet.

My eldest started talking at 10 1/2 mths and was talking in sentences by 15 or 16 mths. My second could say a handful of words by 12 mths but didn't use sentences until 18 mths. My third started talking at 13 mths. The eldest two were both early talkers but very late walkers while the youngest started both walking and talking at the same time. Sometimes if they're late developing one skill it's because they are focussing all their energy on another.

My youger son started talking in short sentences by the time he turned 2. Before then it was a word here and there.

It truly varies with each child. My son could say 5 words on his 2nd birthday and I was a little freaked out because I knew other 2 year olds that could say 20 or more words. But, he starting talking when he was ready. At 2 1/2 something clicked and he was saying new words every day.
