My daughter was born in the Costa Blanca South in Spain during the summer where temperatures are in their 40's. She is 3 now and has always had water to drink aswell as milk from atleast the age of 3 months. Where I live there are not the books and aid you get in the UK, you have to go on instinct and if its hot and your baby is fretting she may need water but obviously it has to be of a normal temperature at that age, not cold from the fridge. Hope that helps.

Babies get all the fluid they need throught breast milk and formula. (if they are given that regularly) If you want you can give them water but be careful because it is thinner than milk and they can choke on it. Its merely YOUR preference. I did it. My son was like 6mo old when I gave him water....

my doctor told me I could give water to my newborn, but to limit it, because she should be getting her nutrients from either formula or breast milk, and too much water could fill her up and she wouldn't get as many nutrients. but I guess I didn't really start giving her water until the summer (she was born in late September and it got cold after that) when it was getting hotter, and then she was about 7/8 months old.

You can give your baby water at any time just make sure you give a slow nipple because it comes out fast and can choke. Make sure baby is sitting more upright.
