Hey. I am a massage therapist and a mother of two. You can rub two pressure points on the body to help cause contractions. One place is on your ankle. the inside of the ankle just under the ankle bone that sticks out. Rub underneath it in a u shape, use good pressure. do both feet. It may be tender, if it is, you know you are on the right spot. Also on your hands, on the inside of the palms, there is a spot right below the thumb, that part of the palm that kind of sticks out, you can also rub this spot in a circular motion to cause contractions. There is also nipple stimulation, sex, and I have always heard you can eat something spicy! Good luck...

They normally say you must be up and about and be "active".What I meant was some pregnant woman think if you expecting its like a illness and just sit all the time and wait for the baby. Walk and still do things. Help for me. Enjoy.

Castor oil isn't recommended anymore. What it does is to get your bowel muscles going, which makes you poop a lot. Then sometimes your uterus can start having "sympathy" cramps and that can trigger labor. But true labor won't start until your body and your baby are ready.

Quoting Dorothee:

Hi Shemeka! My little boy was 10 days late and I'd tried everything until my sister in law offered to give me a reflexology treatment. Well, as well as being sooooooo relaxing, 30 minutes after she'd gone, why waters had broken!

That's another good one!  But you have to make sure whoever does it is a trained professional.  A good friend of mine is a massage therapist and trained in reflexology.  When my son was about 6 weeks old we were talking on the phone and I complained of back pain.  He offered to give me a massage for free and I wasn't about to say no!  While he was rubbing my feet, he pushed on a spot on the bottom of my foot and my uterus contracted.  It wasn't painful like a contraction but enough where I felt it.  If it's done safely then it can also help to induce labor.  He asked me if my breasts had been hurting from breastfeeding and I said yes.  He touched another spot on the bottom of my foot and for just those few seconds they didn't hurt.  I spent the next few weeks rubbing my feet and poking them, trying to find the "breast" spot again lol

i was the same way i just couldnt wait for my little man to arrive. my due date was 2/16/09. On feb. 4 my husband and i started having sex twice a day (my aunt worked at a ob and that was something they told there patients could work) and after sex i went and walked around the mall. i did that for 3 days. on the 3rd day my water broke at 11:30 at night! by the time i got to the hosp. i was 4cm i started pushing at 3am and he was born feb 7th at 7:45 in the morning. i hope this helps. i no some people say this doesnt work but everytime we had sex i had braxton hicks contractions for hours so it most have been doing something.

Good luck,

If you are at or near your due date, there are a few things you can try.

1) Walk, walk, walk. I started walking at the begining of my pregnancy to stay in shape but once I hit my due date and no labor, I started walking 3 times a day. Not a lot....just around the block a few times, morning, noon and evening.

2) Sex was recommended by my doctor. Semen contains prostaglandins that can stimulate contractions. It's awkward but doggie style was more comfortable that late in pregnancy anyway.

3) Nipple stimulation. This causes your body to release oxytocin, which is the natural form of pitocin, which is sometimes used to induce labor.

FYI I used all three of these methods and still went to 41 weeks and had to be induced (not with Pitocin). Just make sure that you are careful in whatever you decide to do.

Good luck and congratulations ahead of time!
