hello mums, i was just wondering what other 15 months old are eating in a day and if they are still having bottles. just want to see if im feeding my little one the same

By 15 months your baby should be on mostly solid foods, cut into small pieces. Your child should be on a similar feeding schedule as you are, eating similar foods: Larger meals at least 3 times a day with small snacks in between, as needed. I say "as needed" because your baby's hunger can increase with growth spurts, then decrease so you want to be flexible in meeting those hunger needs. Foods that you should still avoid are those that are very hard and crunchy, like nuts and popcorn or that don't disolve quickly when moist. These types of food can still pose a serious choking hazard.

The bottle issue is more open to debate. Personally-- and this is just my perspective-- babies should be weaned off of all but one or two bottle feedings by 15 months and completely weaned by 18 -20 months. That is my opinion and that is the routine I used with my daughter mainly because it worked for us. By the time she was 15 months old she was down to just one bottle at night before bed. We substituted "sippy" cups during the day as we weaned her off of formula to soy milk. She still got a formula bottle at night. By the time she was 18 months she was off of formula and bottle completely and we had switched to soy milk for the night feeding in a sippy cup. This is the method and routine that worked for us and is by no means the only schedule that works! A lot of parenting babies is trial-and-error as you search for methods and routines that work for you and your baby. If you have problems or any other questions about feeding routines always consult your doctor/pediatrician! Hope this at least gives you an idea and helps a bit. Best of luck to you!

Danielle, are you saying that you give your 15-month old black tea? Aren't you worried about the amount of caffeine he's ingesting?



Health Canada recommends that children under 12 take in no more than 2.5 milligrams of caffeine for every kilogram of body weight.



So let's say your kid is 11Kg. That means that he should be taking in no more than 27.5 mg of caffeine every day. Black tea has 40mg of caffeine per cup.



Plus, tea is known to hinder the absorption of dietary iron, and babies this age need iron for their growth and development.

My boy gets Porridge in the morning , and a black tea bottle , then if he gets nibbly i give him a fruit yogurt and then at lunch he has cooked food (bolognaise , casseroles etc ) and then for supper the same cooked meal as lunch , every day we alternate between the different cooked food so he gets a variety and sometimes after dinner or before he goes to sleep we do another yogurt

Breast feeding is best, I did my last till age 3 if not then soy milk, cows milk is for calves, or goat is good, the more natural or organic the better, sunshine gives d and calcium is in other products besides milk

My 15-month old eats mostly the same thing we do, just cut into small pieces, and nothing that's hard to chew. Last night we had pork roast in the slow cooker, rice, and vegetables. He ate what we did, but I made sure to cook his veg a little longer so that they were very soft. If we're having a stew or soup, I just pick out some of the meat and veg from the stew and give them to him on a plate.

If my husband and I are having a not-so-healthy supper, I have emergency meals for Sam tucked into the freezer. I buy frozen meat tortellini at the grocery store, boil it, lay it to dry on a clean tea towel, put it in a single layer on a cookie sheet, freeze it, and store it in ziploc bags. For a quick and healthy supper for him, I grab a 1/2 cup of the pasta, heat it up, sprinkle some parmesan cheese over it, and then cook up a few tablespoons of frozen peas and carrots to go with it.

He has one bottle at night as I'm settling him, but it's just water in it.

Breakfast is usually toast, sometimes with a bit of peanut butter, some fruit or berries, and a cup of soy milk. Lunch is usually some cut-up ham or chicken, some cheese, some cut-up tomatoes, and some whole-wheat crackers.

Louise, i'm impressed that your little one was eating sandwiches at that age -- mine has been eating cut-up peanut butter sandwiches, or grilled-cheese sandwiches, but I haven't tried him yet with meat sandwiches. I guess it's probably time!

At 15 months my daughter basically ate the same as me except she had mashed potatoes rather than fries or wedgies, and she did not like pasta or rice so I replaced this with either roasted sweet potato or baked potato. Breakfast was either cereal or banana and yoghurt, lunch was a sandwhich with meat or cheese, tomatoes and cucumber slices and evening meal was meat and vegetables. Hope this helps
