what are your takes on the baby Einstein videos?

I used them first on a cross country airplane ride to distract my then 17 month old. As he got older he loved to watch them, repeating the words. He especially loved the Christmas and On the Go (transportation). He's almost 4 now and will not let us donate them to the library yet, but soon...

My boys loved them, I think they are great, fun to watch. I actually am selling my collection of them, I have like 7 DVD's. and a few VHS. I need to get them on ebay soon, if I do I'll try to get you the link. They really are great fun.

My daughter is 8 months old and she loves them! They really help sooth her. When ever she is fussy if I put one in, she calms down right away. I don't expect them to make her smarter, but she seems to really like them, and I figure it can't hurt as they are alot more educational than the crap on tv. I think they are fab!
My daughter loved and still loves them! She is now 2. I think I collected all of them and started putting her in front of the TV at about 4 months. Just for the length of the video. She was so engrossed in them. She's the smartest 2-year old I know!!! Now her younger brother watches them and she'll sit there and yell out what's on the screen...colors, objects, sign language. It is a great learning tool.

LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM!!!!! I have 4 children ages 71/2, 6, 41/2, & 17 months...I got a few of them when my oldest was little...every morning from the time he could hold his own bottle, I would put one of them on and put him in his bouncy seat and I would have a FULL 30 mins to sit in the quiet...he LOVED them soooo much, when I put them on for my 17month old now, all the kids will come into the room to watch them too!! we dont have cable or anything, so all they watch are videos and these are def. a must have in our house...(not that they make them smarter, just that they are so soothing and calming!) we even have the full CD collection for in the car!

There was new studies on them that showed it didn't make any difference than any other music out there. ie. kids weren't any smarter because they watched them vs. kids that didn't. It's all up to you and if your kids like them or not. In our case, my kids didn't like them. They are into more upbeat music rather than classical. Good luck.

All my kids are older but I have a 9month old Granddaughter and when I had her over for the day I watched this movie called Baby Einstein I was simply amazed and wondered what it was that made her stop being fussy and just sit there and watch this movie. It must been the bright colors and soft soothing voices. I think its way better than Barney or those darn teletubbies my kids used too watch when they were growing up. Thumbs up for Baby Einstein!

We have 2 kids ages 5 and 7. They only watch TV on the weekends and maybe 20 minutes of computer time before bed if all of their other work is done. My husband and I are classical musicians and felt the Baby Einstein videos were one of the best things you can have for your kids - if you are going to give in to letting them watch any TV at all. We had them watch them about 2-3 times a week as well and they LOVED them! They were instantly soothed and usually much happier when they were over. The classical music on them is fantastic and really great for the development of their brains. Tons of research on this and it is really high quality music - some of it is arranged in "baby-tones" but still very high quality. In the end, after 2 kids, we own all of them. They continued to watch them until they were probably about 3 or 4 and still loved them. Now time for me to donate them.....

When I was pregnant I was firmly against them and didn't register for any. But then a friend gave me a couple her kids had "outgrown." I put one in once when my son was fussy and upset from teething (at about 4 or 5 months old...) and he just LOVED it! He was instantly soothed and just sat in my lap and snuggled and watched the video. When it was over, he was a new baby! We don't watch a lot of TV, cartoons, videos, whatever, so now I feel like letting him watch one 2 or 3 times a week is no big deal and he loves the colors, shapes, animals, puppets, etc. Hope this helps you! :)
