my daughter has the same problem. The teacher has tried keeping in from recess, limiting play time, setting a timer. I have tried consequences such as no playdates, having to finish classwork and homework before tv, no tv, etc.... I'm not sure what is going - the social worker thinks that she may have some anxiety concerning school - so I am now taking her to see a therapist. I have a meeting scheduled with the school's psychologist next week - she is very bright (not just a mom bragging - the teacher thinks so as well) she just will not do her classwork

I also agree. Our teachers will keep them in during recess. They also will take the kids who are inturpting the other kids and put the on a table by themselves so they can do their work. If they can prove that they can be by the others then they are allowed to go back to their desk. There have been alot of kids sit at the table for weeks but for most a couple days most are back to their desks. You should go and talk to the kids without your child first so you and teacher are on the same page then a meeting with your child to see what she has to say.

I agree with Cristina...children always want to get that recess in for the day. My daughter tells me that her class is so bad they have had to miss it everyday. She always reports to me when she has homework that needs to be done, so I don't have any trouble in that department. But, for you, I believe that a parent conference is in order to find out why she isn't getting it done. There may be distractions or something...

Is the teacher sending home the unfinished classwork? Or is she keeping her in for recess to finish it? I just finished volunteering in a class where the teacher would have the students that didn't finish their work stay in to do it. I can tell you, in the 21 hours I was there, I didn't see it happen often...no one wants to miss that!! If the teacher doesn't do that, then maybe she will send it home to do...
