Hey, I just made a LONG (12+ hours each way) car trip with the kids and figured things out a little better. Milk products trigger the nausea faster and more violently than anything else for her. Another thing that helps settle her stomach pretty well is mildly flavored carbonated beverages. Ginger ale and that new carbonated tea seemed to work the best. Anything really sweet or strongly flavored (coke, rootbeer, etc....) didn't work nearly as well. Going down she had milk with breakfast and milk with dinner and threw up @6 times. Coming back I elimanted all milk and used the pops and she was only sick 1 time :-)

SeaBands are definitely the answer for me and my daughter, now an adult! Depending on the age of your daughter, they may or may not fit correctly however. The plastic button on the elastic band has to fit snugly in the hollow of the underside of the wrist...a pressure point. When my daughter was younger, I gave her 1/2 tablet Dramamine, but it was the kind that made her sleepy, so she missed out on much of the sightseeing that went along with the traveling.

My daughter did this for about 3 months before I changed the routine. I use to give her a bottle and right when she finished it I would put her in the car. Now I always make sure that she has 15 minutes after eating before I put her in the car. this has worked for 2 months. Hope that this is helpfull

If she's old enough for Dramamine, that is a godsend. All 3 of my girls get carsick. If she's too young for medicines, I also like ginger tea (health food store) with a little honey in it. Ginger beer if they will drink it works well (it's not beer it's just really strong ginger ale). My brother who always got carsick swears by Sprite or sucking on a lemon. I've also heard that Benedryl works. This is a really tough problem. Nothing works as well as dramamine so ask your doc when and how much of it you can use.

How old is she first??? I use Preggy Pops for myeslf! The things that stop the morning sickness for mommies. I have been using them for years to stop motion sickness. They are yummy. I even have some male friends using them so they do not get car sick.

I haven't tried ginger snap cookies but candied ginger works. It's a little tough to find though. My daughter gets car sick a lot too. It is worse in cars with the 'soft' suspension.(luxury cars,etc.). We bought a full sized van with a stiff suspension a year ago and shes only been sick once since.

I used to get car sick all the time, still do if I'm in the back seat! There were many times I puked out the window of my mom's car, lol! I've never tried them, but they make these things called SeaBands that you where on your wrist and that's supposed to help. Ginger works really good to combat nausea also. Maybe you could give her some gingersnaps if she starts to get sick.

My pediatrician recommended benedril. We also play the game where we look out the front windshield straight ahead to look for water towers and barns or big trucks. I am going to look into how old my daughter can be to take dramamine. I also want to look into these magnets you are supposed to be able to place on thier ears. Watching movies made it worse! It's not fun being puked all over. We usually just travel at night or nap time. I am ready for some long road trips over 3 hours so I am on the hunt for a solution myself!

My son did this for MONTHS...it became second nature to pack a million changes of clothes, towels, wips...the works...I took him to the doctor and they diagnosed him with acid reflux(he only got sick every once in a while outside of the car, mostly in the car) They gave him Zantac and he takes it 2 times a day and hasn't gotten sick at all except one day when he had a tummy bug. It has helped a TON!!!! Take her to the doctor to see what they think it may be....it's worth a shot. It's worth almost anything to keep your little one from getting sick in the car all the time! Good luck :)

try moving her to the middle of the backseat so she can look out the front window. That helped a little for my kids
