nothing really babies come when they are ready...So enjoy your rest and take care of yourself.

If you're healthy and full-term, you might want to try intercourse. The hormones released during orgasm trigger labor.

I had my doctor open my cervix at 41wks, went home cleaned, had a hot bath and then hot sex as uncomfortable as it was. An hour later I went into labour. My doctor said that sperm is very similar to the gel they use to induce labour. Goodluck, hope all goes well.

I was told to expect my baby early because her head descended into position fairly early so you can imagine my frustration of having to wait even after I reached the 40th week. I tried everything in the books but NOTHING worked.....she just came out when she was ready to come out.

i was due to be induced just over a week after my due date and opted to try some acupuncture, this was also suggested by my obstetrician. Went for a session at 9am that morning, then after a half hour walk at 530pm my contractions started. Not sure if it was the acupuncture or the walk that got it all started but i walked our dog almost everyday so think it was the acupuncture. 24 hours later we welcomed our little man into the world. Worth a try if you dont want to be induced in hospital, my friend who is a midwife also suggested it and did it herself too

I don't think anything works. I think the baby will arrive when it gets ready. Some people walk, drink odd concoctions, etc... sometimes they go into labor (if the baby is ready to come), and sometimes they don't (if the baby isn't ready).

do nto drink castor oil! it will make you very very sick but in most cases will not bring on labour its also a risk to baby as some others have said it can make it so baby is born to quick and give them problems afterwards, as well you'll have diarrhea while you deliver. i dont know this from person experience just others but its not wroth the risk please disregard those silly people who tell you to drink castor oil

I tried sex, walking, castor oil, a hot bath, and having my membranes stripped. Nothing worked..my son was 13 days overdue when he was born. I was induced Thursday night, was in labor 36 hours and pushed for another 3. Finally he had to be c-sectioned out. He was born Saturday afternoon. Oddly enough it wasn't as bad as it sounds...

Quoting Lissa:

depends if your up to it but sex. its the mans sperm that sends hormones around your cervix apparently its kinda the same hormone release as the stuff they use to induce you with in hospital. they also sat eating freash pineapple as that too has a natrual hormone, hot currys, walking, and sitting on and rolling bum on a birthing ball.

ps can i just say though i treid all of the above :) and i was still late and induced i guess they come when their ready :)

Worked for me I had 1 day before being induced so went for power walk and labour started that evening, my cousin had waters brake and was 1 day away from being induced so i made her go for a power walk and her labour started that evening also.... maybe lucky

Caster oil works but it's not the funnest! It can cause extreme vomitting and digestive issues. There's a spot just above your ankles that your hubby can rub and that can help move things along. It caused contractions for me, but not labor. Also, try red raspberry leaf tea. You can find it at any grocery store for pretty cheap. I drank one glass and we were at the hospital an hour later. It can also help your uterus shrink back down to size if you continue to drink it after.

Go bowling! My husband and I talked to a few people (randomly) and 3 different couples said they had gone bowling a few days before their child was born. I'm sure there's no truth behind it, but 10 days before i was due, we gave it a shot. Kylie was born a week early! I also ate a lot of pineapple and kiwi and walked around the block a few times. We also had sex the day before. Somehow, the combo worked!

I am 41 weeks 3 days right now with my second baby. We have tried everything, walking, cleaning, sex, spicy foods, nipple stim...I refuse to eat or drink anything to induce labour, but none of this has helped to bring on labour. I had my membranes sweept last mon and still nothing. Go back tomorrow for another check and sweep. I know how you feel about wanting baby to come and hopefully come early but for what ever reason some babies just come late and there is nothing you can do to change it. They come when they come. But believe me it is soooo hard to see your due date come and go and then the weeks and days come and go and still no baby. But no one has ever been pregnant forever lol! Take care!!

spicy food, castor oil, sex, long walks, 4x4ing, and nipple stimulation have all been said to work. I do not recommend castor oil because it doesnt always work, and it tastes disgusting.

I had both my children 3 1/2 weeks early (they came prematurely on their own accord) so never got to the stage where I needed to try anything myself but friends of mine have reliably informed me that sex, fresh pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, hot spicy food, castor oil, long walks, bumpy car journeys, bouncing on a birthing ball, hot baths, nipple stimulation and forcing yourself to do as much 'strenous' work a heavily pregnant woman can do (mowing the lawn etc) all work!! Altho I personally believe that if your body isnt ready nothing will help. That is why you have to be examined before a doctor will agree to induction (my sister in law was refused an induction twice due to cervix not being 'favourable'. The hosp will not want to induce unless you are favourable bcoz they say it won't work and will just stress you and your baby out unnecessarily. Good luck tho!

sex was the thing that brought on the labour off my second child he was 5 days late and at that stage when ur heavy the subject off even doing it goes outa the window we tried it and half an hour later my contractions started with my youngest child we believe the shock 2 my system off my partner trappin my fingers in the boot off his car worked at bringing him on

I was ten days late and every one tried to tell me ways to induce labor and they all didn't work. If the baby isn't ready then you won't go into labor. Sex and nipple simulation will help but only work if you are to close to labor.

RASPBERRY LEAF TEA ~ RASPBERRY LEAF TEA ~ RASPBERRY LEAF TEA
I cant recommend this enogh, used with both of mine (after 36 weeks though) and 4 days later out him came !!!!! And it's herbal either in teabag form which i found tasted better cold with ice - i craved ice or in tablet form which is as big as a horse but i took it at night
Hope this helps

I found out about Raspberry Leaf tea when I was 37 weeks according to one OB, and already 40 weeks by Yale standards.. my child was already measuring in at 9.5 lbs then, give or take 8oz.. and I wanted him out!! I had been in bed for 3 monhts at that point and just wanted to be able to go outside and see the world a bit more!! Sooo, I went to the healthfood store and got a box of Raspberry Leaf tea. I drank 4 cups the first day, and got through 2 the following morning, and viola... my water broke at 1145 am, I had my son in my arms at 215pm!!   So.. yes I swear by htis tea now!

I have 4 children. With my 1st we had a roast lamb with roast vegetables for dinner followed by sex.By midnight that night I went into Labour.Four hours later we had our 1st girl. With our 2nd, Nipple stimulation worked.(the roast lamb didn't!) We had a Boy. With our 3rd, my Dr stretched me at 38 weeks, a few days later we had a roast Lamb and by 12:38am we had our second girl. Then because the roast Lamb worked for our first two girls and we knew our fourth was also a girl we tried the roast Lamb again - It worked but this time I had also worked out what helped my labours progress faster which was keeping active in labour by walking around the room, So I refused to walk!! This was my longest Labour being that it was 7hours. I think I prolonged it quite well. LOL. All my labours were completely natural - NO DRUGS!!!

I did try nipple stimulation with all of them but hadn't tried it when I actually did go into labour with any of my girls. When I did try nipple stimulation I do recall feeling my tummy contract. Give it a go or get your partner to do it for you. I doubt he will complain!!!

Good luck!

you can eat fresh pineapple that is suppose to help but be careful inducing... the baby will come when its developed don't rush it their lungs are the last thing that develops and out too early could cause some breathing problems they are better off in your belly unless they are WAY OVERDUE

what is cohosh?

I think it's a herb taken from a plant, it's all natural and it helps women with all kinds of stuff like period cramps but it does contract the uterus and I took it with my last baby and it did work. I know you can look it up online and it will tell you the recipe of how to take it to induce labor. If I remember right you take like 15 drops every 2 hrs or something like that. I took 2 doses and my water broke. It task very sour but it's way better then castor oil taste wise.

what we do at work is have the women walk around that often helps dilate you more, the pressure of the baby on your cervix. also, i was 2 cent dilated and very miserable. i was told by the doctor to take warm baths to help dilation. i took several warm baths that day and took a couple spoons of castrol oit (not sure if its spelled right, it is a laxative) and that night i woke up in full blown labor. it really worked, so try the laxative and warm baths.

Hun, dont try to make it go quicker, i prayed for my son to come early, and i ended up being pre-eclamptic and he ended up coming a month early, his lung collapsed and was in the nicu for almost 3 weeks, unless you're past full term, let it be. its no fun watching a sick baby, it breaks your heart!!

For both of my kids I did this - manual labor! For my first (daughter), I shoveled the whole driveway (we got about 8 inches of snow)...that night my water broke, and by the next morning a very healthy little girl was born. For my second (son), I mowed the whole lawn and raked it (it was like hay out back). That night contractions started and went into full blown labor in 1 hour...he was born about 6 hours later. Both kids were VERY easy births...but of course, I had no medical conditions and had family close by so that if anything happened they were there to help! Hope it works out! :) COngrats!

Nothing you can do, after 2 and a half weeks late I can say nothing at all works. If nipple stimulation etc etc worked , why do the National Health spend money on gels and drips to induce people? Don't stress or worry about eating curries, you just have to wait it out.

There's a great Italian restaurant right outside of Atlanta, GA called Scalini's. Legend has it that if a pregnant woman eats Scalini's Eggplant Parmigiana dish, she will deliver within 48hrs after eating it. The restaurant boasts a wall of over 300 "Eggplant baby" pictures. Visit their website at scalinis.com to get the recipe (look under the mothers to be tab). Good luck!

I have heard that having sex works, his semen softens the cervix. But also, your baby will initiate labor.
