With my fourth I did everything I knew in one day. Castor oil on spicy tacos, fresh pineapple, blue and black cohosh mixed with water, breast pump, and sex. I did start contractions that night, and by the next morning they were every two to three minutes, BUT they weren't too painful and stopped as soon as we got to the hospital. Although I was dilated to four, they went ahead and sent me home (I didn't want a medical induction, pitocin is horrid). The next night, more false labor. The next night, more false labor, but by 4 am the contractions were real. I was never so tired in my whole life.
Now though number 5 is due soon, and I will probably keep trying these silly home things even though I have lost faith in them.
I do use evening primrose oil (from about week 35) and drink red raspberry leaf tea throughout pregnancy. I used them with pregnancies 3 and 4, and was well dilated with both when I went in labor. My third labor was only four hours (and only three of them hurt), but the fourth last much longer (but I was a decade older, too).

I was three weeks early with both of mine, first one due to an abruption. With my second one, the doctor was trying to size up how much she was going to weigh and that sent me into having the contractions; she was born the next afternoon. My sister had heard that there is something in licorice that can start contractions, but for some reason you're not supposed to eat too much of it. She tried it with both hers and they were born within two days.

Evening Primrose Oil...take a capsule, puncture it and insert it vaginally...works I did it with my last 2...also the usual sex and walk, walk, walk...DO NOT DO THE CASTOR OIL...it will make you sick as a dog and wish you were dead...had friends that tried it, never worked for labor just made them throw up and diarrhea....

with my first i ate bread bolls soaked in balsamic vinegar within 24 hrs i was holding my lil girl. Raspberry leaf tea doesnt bring on the labour it just helps you to contract quicker after the birth and heal faster. You have to drink it for a few months to get any effect from it as well. tastes discusting too. However this time (boy) ive tried everything, trampoline, stairs, sex, curry, hot baths, housework, walking, jumping. nothng working maybe its a boy thing though!

with my 3rd i used castor oil mixed in orange juice. It worked great. yes i had to go to the bathroom frequently but I also had a baby born a few hour later. And doctors are used to feces being forced out when u are bearing down and pushing.

I totally understand about the husband thing! He was terrified that he was going to poke the baby or she was going to be able to see him. I tried everything. I waled about 2-3 miles a day, tried the nipple stimulation, ate spicy food. The only thing I didn't do was the castor oil. I heard some horror stories about it not working but still getting the runs so I opted to pass on that one. My daughter was still 4 days late and the doctor had to induce me. Good luck!!!

I know of a few but don't know the side effects of them all. Castor oil is one but that can also give you false labor pains but if you do that and walk it should get you on your way. Another is blue cohosh and that worked for me with my 4th pregnancy and you can get that at any herbal store. The foot message is one also. Sex is very effective as the sperm has the hormone they use to induce you. Good luck.
CASTOR OIL! I know how you feel, by the 38th week I was so done, and so were my ankles...they couldn't hold anymore water. My doctor stripped my membranes at my 38th week visit and suggested castor oil the next day if I didn't feel any action. I took a tablespoon of castor oil at 11:30am and my water broke at 2pm. I had my daughter that night at 11:04pm. Just a tablespoon and make sure you are near a bathroom because you will have to go to the bathroom frequently within the following 2 hours. I heard sex can work, but my husband couldn't have sex with me once I started to show...he was too afraid he was going to "poke" the baby in the head, despite my efforts in explaining how there was no way that could happen. Anyway, good luck!

Well, to be honest...sex worked for us both times. My mother some of my Aunts and my Grandmother swear that eating a little pizza will do the trick as well. It worked for my Grandmother and my Mother...lol. ;o)

haha its funny. i am nearly 42 weeks and i have tried walking, jumping, bumpy roads, sex, spicy food and other things...nothing is working. i have decided not to stress about it and stop trying to bring him on, clearly he is happy in there and wants a few more days to chill before he comes into thebig wide world!!

pls everyone stop reccomending dangerous things such as castor oil just because you were lucky enough for it not to cause problems for you or your baby doesnt mean this lady will be. i would encourage others to find out more before they go and drink castor oil only people who dont think about bub do this :)

I have the perfect recipe! Caster oil shake
2 big scoops of your favorite flavor of ice cream
1 bottle of cater oil
1/2 cup milk
throw it through the blender and you have a yummy drink that works for inducing regular labour and at the least saves you from having to endure a sleet enima which they administer after you've signed in to the hospital (they flush the poop out for you)
so there you have it and then you need to have some sex and go for a walk. Worked great for me.

i was at 38 weeks but knew i was in early labor. I had no bleeding during my pregnancy at all and started to have a pinkish brown gelly discharge, and could just tell it was almost over. I had worked up until the day i delivered as a hairstylist so i was always up on my feet and took walks frequently when i could. the last day i worked i called the doctor and she didnt seem to think anything was going on but i went home and that night took a shot of castor oil at 9pm and had sex. we laid down and at 11pm i started having contractions. we left for the hospital 2 and a half hours later. my son was 10 days early.

Castor Oil.. But you can't go to the chemist and buy it, they know tht it's a trick to bring on labour os they wont sell it to a pregnant woman. Other then that i walked up and down stairs when I was pregnant.

Sex works great, especially if you orgasm, because that causes you to contract, which may speed things up nicely.
Another thing, that I would not have believed if my OB was a man, that my doc told me that semen can help things move along, but is apparently more effective if ingested. Didn't have to resort to those measures though, my little one came 6 days early.

A hot bath put me in labour. After just minutes of being in the tub contractions started at 5 mins, however, I did a lot of swimming and walking months prior to that. But it's weird how almost immediately labour started..hmm worth a shot
good luck and congratulations!

Hi Cassie, I drank Raspberry tea & it worked a treat, I drank it for 3 days & then I went into labour, my contractions weren't as painful until the very end of course but I found it really works. I have 3 kids, and it never let me down. Best of luck xx..

I used Castor oil with my second son. I bought it at wal mart in the laxative section. If you mix it with orange juice and Ice cream it tastes just great! Make any kind of frozen drink out of it and you can not taste the oil at all. It will give you horrid diaherrea but it sure works. My little guy was born the next morning after I took the stuff. Midwives recommend it to their patients.

Evening primrose oil to "ripen" cervix, black cohosh, goldenroot
Castor oil starts contractions really well but tastes horrible, can be bought from pharmacies but they dont sell to pregnant women. Causes some stomach pain but can be settled with paracetamol and also causes loose bowel movements. To overcome taste, mix with orange juice and stir a lot. hold nose then drink in one and have a cup of coffee/tea waiting to clear oily residue in mouth

sex and walking, though neither too comfortable in the end
but please don't do anything else, your baby girl or boy will come precisely when he or she is supposed to
if you mess with the process it could mean trouble
you've waited this long

Honestly unless the baby & your body are ready nothing you do will work. Sex & walking are safe methods to try. Some babies just need to bake longer than others. All of mine have gone several days over, my last one was a week over. BUT it's just an ESTIMATED due date not set in stone. YOu won't be pregnant forever I promise. Oh & castor oil is not very good, tried it & was miserable. , still didn't have baby til a week later!

my friend told me about Primrose oil. you can buy it at the store. she said that all you have to do it break the caplet open on your fingers(the pointer and middle). then you just rub it on your cervix. you may need help doing this so get you honey to do this. she did this and within 24 hours she was in labor. i was going to but my baby decided to come before i could buy the stuff. good luck!

Castor oil. And don't believe that bs people say about it causing baby to have a bowel movement inside. It doesn't cross the placenta and doesn't make for a stressful labor. Sometimes labor just IS stressful to baby on its own.
Anyways, my doctor swears by it. She said it works best if you're a least a little dilated and effaced and baby has dropped. 1tbsp before bed and sex. Good luck.

What ever you do, DO NOT try castor oil!!! I tried it and all it did was make me uncomfortable. The nurse told me to try sex, which did not work. I walked 2 miles and climbed stairs, none of which worked!!! The a/c went out on the hottest weekend of the year and some decided to come for surprise visit and lo and behold I went into labor the night they left. Walking worked with my first two. The story came from my third. Good luck!
