Thanks to everyone who commented. I ordered the Britax over the weekend and feel good about it. I love having the Circle of Mom's to count on!!!

I would have to say Britax is most likely the best car seat on the market, at least here in Canada, It has a lot of safety features. I have the Boulevard CS model this can go right from 5 lbs to 65 lbs which is the largest range in growth for a car seat it grows with the child. The one feature you might want to think about for your sake it if it can be adjusted for your childs growth while in the car. You don't want to have to take it out of the car to make the adjustment, It's a pain to reinstall. Plus the longer you have them in an actual car seat the better for their safety, In Canada you can put your child in a booster at 40 lbs but this car seat allows you to keep them safer for longer. It also has side impact protection which is excellent if you get into a side impact collision, your child won't bounce around as much and has greater head support. This model has something called Click and Safe ( CS ) this gives you and audible click when the harness is tight enough, one of the main reasons for a child's death in a car accident is from the harness not being properly secured around the child. This seat suited us very well but if you have a small car I wouldn't suggest it unless you don't mind being squeezed into your front passenger seat. I have a civic and I can sit in the front seat but my husband finds that to be an issue. If you do have a small car and the front seat in valuable to you I suggest getting a car seat that has a range of 5 lbs to 40 lbs they tend to be small in size, but I will still suggest getting a Britax they have been around for a long time. I used a Britax when I was a baby in England that was 24 years ago so i'm sure they know what they are dong lol. hope this helps... happy shopping !

I have 3 Britax Marathons and 1 Evenflo Triumph. I prefer the Britax. I based my choices on Consumers Reports. Both car seats are good car seats, but I prefer the Marathon over the Triumph. Britax is narrower and sits straighter. The Marathon is more "rounded" and wider. I believe my Triumph is about 4 years old and my Britax is 5 years old. My Marathon goes from infant to 65 pounds. My Triumph only goes to 40, but I see that on the newer model that has increased to 50 pounds. My kids sit and sleep in a better position in the Marathon than the Triumph. In the Marathon, they sit up straighter and when they fall asleep, they sleep upright with their heads turning to the side. In the Triumph, my kids seem slumped over and when they fall asleep they fall forward and to the side. I worry about how their heads loll over the car seat's seat belt. I have taken the covers off both the seats and prefer the Britax. Britax has a metal "h" hook that attaches the top of the car seat straps to the back, letting you get the car seat cover off. I had to remove the backcover of the Triumph to get to the bits that held the straps in place. Too many steps and peices that could get lost with the Triumph. Make sure you also have a Phillips head screwdriver around.

I would again, spend the extra money on the Britax. You will get more use out of it!

Good luck and hope this helps.

You might also want to check the Sunshine Kids Radian. It is amazing as well. It has a 5 pt harness to 65lbs and folds up for easy transport. It also has a shoulder strap to carry it with. It is airplane approved if you travel at all and has the narrowest base so it doesn't take up too much room in the vehicle. From my son's experience it is very comfy. He was 30 pounds by a year so we needed something that would grow with him and this is great. He is now 3.5yrs and 40 pounds and still loves it.
Otherwise I recommend the Britax, though the Triumph is not bad.

We have the Evenflo and love it. It's the same as the Britax only about $100 cheaper. The body of the seat is the exact same, it's just the cover and name that's different so why pay the extra money?!

Quoting Jessi:

i have the britaz matathon and i love it. i used an infant seat until my daughter was old/big enough to be foward facing in it though. much easier that way. but i love the marathon. ive heard good things about the boulevard too it looks more padded.
ive seen other car seats that when the child falls asleep in them their heads fall foward and roll around as the car moves but in my marathon my daughter is at the proper angle and she always looks very comfy if she falls asleep in the car ( also when she isnt asleep!) also, out of all the car seats ive had to clip in the matathon has been the easiest.it is pretty big though if your going to try to use it rear facing. oh and the seat has velcros so you can stick the belts out of the way when your putting your baby in; very handy!
sorry this is so long..i asked everywhere when i was looking for carseats so just tryin to be helpful in return.

It wasn't to long! I too have researched and researched for the perfect carseat.  My little guy is 5 months but already weighs 23 lbs. so he is quickly outgrowing his infant seat.  Thanks for your help.

I use the Evenflo Truimph rear facing with my daughter!! It is really comfortable and fits well in our car! She seems to love the extra room in comparison to her infant car seat! I just made sure I had a car seat that reclined so that she is more comfortable as she sleeps! It was not the easiest carseat to install though...

I have the Britax Marathon and I love it. I still use it rear facing, and it really isn't hard to use that way, and it fits fine in my car. My son loves it, I've had it since he was 4 months old, he's 8months now.

Oh and just thought of another thing. Check it out on how easy it is to remove the seat cover. Mine is a big pain in the butt. I wished I had thought of that when I bought it.

I have the Costco brand. But what you should look at is how well padded the car seat is and how comfortable it is. Some have no padding and is very uncomfortable. Look at it as how comfortable your child will be in it for a long trip. Also, think of how much your child will grow and will it adjust for your child.
