It is my daughters 1st birthday next week & we are having a party in the back garden/house, we will be putting up a gazebo in the garden just in case the weather isn't brilliant. I will be putting the ball pool, small wendy house & crawl tunnel out along with other toys. I am making the cake & just having sandwiches, nibbles & jelly. There isn't really a theme but the cake is going to have stars on it. We have grandparents & friends with little ones coming.

My daughter's birthday is in just a couple weeks. We're throwing the party October 2nd - it's going to be a Monster Mash! We're going to have kiddo monster movies (Monsters, Inc. & Monster House) playing, plenty of kiddo monster books for reading (Where the Wild Things Are, Monster...End of this Book, Wocket in my Pocket, etc.), an assortment of differently sized, colored and textured balls and balloons to crawl around in and play with, fun and cute monster decorations with crafts for a few older (pre-teen) girls that will be there. We're going to have monster-y food (pigs in blanket for ogre toes, crudites for witch filanges, jello eyeballs, and more), then we'll cook out later in the day - whoever wants to stay, can. The favor bags will contain gak, an Ugly Doll, and tattoos. Oh, and we also have a pull-string pinata and we'll have a costume area and people can take pics of the babes dressed up in funny monster gear.

For my sons first first birthday we had grandparents and god parents over to our house for cake and ice cream. We tried not to do presents because my son already had too much, we'll probably do the same for my daughters first birthday, they don't remember it so there is no reason to spend a ton of money.

We had a big gathering of all of our closest family and friends around 30 people (we have a large family). Then we had cake and ice cream and presents. My son then went in for a nap and the adults hung out and had a great time.

We had family and close friends over our house for a BBQ on his 1st birthday. I don't even think he realized what the heck was going on. He just had fun playing with his little cousins and friends.

I took my family out for lunch. Our first year was really rough and they were a huge help. My way of saying thank you :)

We are having a jungle themed party at our house the saturday before his birthday for family and really close friends (guardian parents). I am going to do party pick bits and big pot cooking as it is winter - chilli and chicken curry and hotdogs.
Then on his birthday (Tuesday) we are going to the zoo with his guardian parents.
I am so excited now there is less than a month until his birthday :-)

For my twin daughters ,who are now 5, I organized a bbq party and invited all the friends and family who could make it. Everybody chipped in to help and it was a real success! They don't remember it but we all had a great time! lol

We did a combined birthday and christening for our little man for his 1st birthday. Invited all the family, had an underwater theme (strings of fish hanging from ceiling), finger foods (most of my family did the cooking so I could mingle and look after bub) and just had a nice afternoon with the family!! It didn't cost that much - bought bulk and everyone had an amazing time just talking and watching all the babies play together!!

We rented a small place and invited all of our family and friends. It was a lot of fun but it was a lot of money and was REALLY stressful for me to put together.

We had the party at our church. They have a playground and water slide, so it was perfect for all the kids that were coming. We invited family and close friends, not everyone we knew, but there are a lot of kids in our family. We did hot dogs, hamburgers, cokes, cake and ice cream. The adults sat and chatted under the pavilion while the kids enjoyed the playground and water slide. For party favors, I bought each kid a water gun from the dollar store. That was a hit. And that's just about it.

My son is now 2 but for his first birthday we went to an activity centre called "Monkey Town". They have jungle gyms, play mats, thomas the tank engine tracks, and the coolest thing is a line of shops the kids can go into and make believe (like a grocery store, restaurant, hardware store, pet hospital, nursery), as well as tons of other toys. Afterwards we opened presents at our place with all his family, had dinner and cake.
