What do you love about being a mum?

I just stumbled across the most depressing website ever. It was a group (and a large group at that) of mums talking about how much they hated being a mum and how they wish they had never had children. There was so much hate in their words. I understand that being a mother has challenges and is certainly not easy, but I felt so sorry for their kids. :*(

So to turn it around, what do you LOVE about being a mum???

Edit: Or tell us a precious (or funny) moment with your kids.

I love the little things. A simple hug and an "I love you mommy." I love it when he says funny things that are so true and wise beyond his years. I love everything about being mommy to my little love!!!

Having children makes all your problems worse. If you are having money problems they get worse, if you are having weight problems they get worse, I can go on and on. But......... children also make everything better. If you love, you love more deeply. If you give, you give more. Every breath you take becomes for them. Life has new meaning. Everything that is really important, family, love, and even being a good person become even more important to you.

Being a mother is the greatest thing I will ever do, my children are my greatest blessing and I am honored that for some reason the Lord blessed me with these precious angles of his. I held my baby in my arms and that was the first time I cried because I loved so much, I finally understood what "my cup runneth over" means. My boys are home from school and "my cup runneth over" right now. It keeps getting better ............ and sometimes worse, but the better is sooooooo much better then the worse could ever be.

I love being able to share my love with my little ones. It may sound selfish, but they are someone who will love me back no matter what (at least until they are older).

I also like knowing that I am influencing the next generation and doing a much better job than my parents did with me.

The best part is the random out of the blue "I love you your the best mommy ever" And that when I pick my son up from school age it's always big hugs and kisses. The unconditional love a child gives is so precious how can you not feel special to have it and give back in return.

I love most is the cuddles, and he only dances with mommy, Seeing how music is a very big part of us. He sings with me but always includes his daddy in every song. I love the sweet smiles and the facial expressions. He may drive me nuts but i wouldn't change a thing. The best day was taking him to the toy store thinking he'd run and play and he froze and dropped his little jaw.

i love walking into her bedroom in the morning and seeing her smile and asking if its morning time yet lol.

just having her arms around me and having a snuggle sitting on the couch.

it also took me and my husband a long time to have our baby girl and we finally did through ivf, so just feeling blessed every day is enough even when she is having a naughty day lol.

the way when we pull up at traffic lights and they are on red, she says "the lights are on red, oh bother"

maybe the website you came across should be named because there are plenty of people who dont find it easy to have children, these people might realise then how blessed they are to be able to have kids

When my kids were babies, I loved having them in my arms, eye-to-eye, and breast-feeding. Now, they are grown, and I love sitting together and talk - about life, about our experiences...Seeing them walking by their own feet...

I love being a mom, because they make my life have a bigger purpose then what it did before. It brings my husband and I closer. After a hard day at work, I come home to hugs and kisses and I love you Mommy. I always have someone to give me hugs when I'm sad and dance silly with me when no one else wants to be silly. Sing with me and watch Disney movies like I used to when I was a little girl. They bring the child in me out...Lovable, honest, happy and stree free.....I love you babies......MOMMY

Your post made me want to cry! Our society is so self-serving and many are having children in all the wrong circumstances. I love everyday knowing that what I am doing is going to affect the world for many generations! I also love when my girls dress up and feel beautiful (everyday). Their whole countanance changes and I know they feel like a princess, which, of course, they are!

For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a mom. Alexander is my miracle baby. He is the greatest achievement of my life!!! One of the things I love the most about being a mom is cuddling with my little squirt, And waking up to his beautiful smiling face. Knowing that I am apart of creating life makes me feel amazing. We have created living breathing human beings that will grow up and live in the world and hopefully make a difference. And that dear mommy's makes us AMAZING!!!

I love every moment about being a mom. I loved being pregnant with him, having him and watching every milstone. I love how he says mama when he is done eating and wants out of his hi chair. I love how he looks to me for comfort when he falls. I love taking care of him. He is the best thing that has every happened to me. I just don't understand those women who have kids and can't understand that. Your children are a gift from God. I love my son sooooo very much.

I love it when I come home from school and my oldest daughter will be talking with her Nana in the living room trying to figure out who just came through the door. And then as soon as she see's me, a huge smile comes and her face and she yells "MOMMY!!!!". And then my youngest will put a huge smile on her face and try to get to me.

Nothing beats the love, affection, and hugs & kisses they will give you! When they giggle uncontrollably when your playing with them. When they squeeze you when their hugging you. It all melts my heart. Even though one of my pregnancies was a nightmare, or having to recover from the c-sections, 2nd more painful than the 1st one due to complications. I know it was all well worth the love your kids give you, and watching them hit milestones.

Being a mom is somthing I have always wanted to be! My daughter brings challenges - as all children do, but she is wonderful and when she puts her arms around me, snuggles up by me, or tells me she loves me she gives me a warm feeling nothing else can replace!! Without her I surly wouldn't be as busy, and would be able to spend more money on myself, but she is such a blessing and a gift from the Lord, and no money is more valuable than the gift of Love I've been given. My Daughter, MIA MARIE

I'm a mom and a step mom, both equally important. I once told my step son's mom the the word "mother" was a verb as well as a noun. I'm the verb. She's the noun.

I'm a young mom and I love it. There are days that I think I won't make it through but it gets better when I look into my baby's eyes. My two year old runs up to me and hugs me when I come in just from the other room. And my 7 month old makes me laugh. He claps randomly and I clap with him and say "yay" and he loves it. It makes me so happy that I can make my kids laugh. They're the only ones that think my goofiness is funny.

While I agree w/ "everything" as an appropriate answer, I am going to reply w/ what first came into mind when reading the question. I overheard my 11 year old son having a conversation w/ my 4 year old son about bad dreams. I stood in the hallway and smiled the biggest smile and dropped the biggest tears while listening to big brother pass along words I had said to him at the same age. Both are heavily into Spiderman, my oldest would have dreams of being stuck or chased by strangers and I told him long ago that his dreams are his, he can make them whatever he wants them to be. If someone is chasing him or he is stuck, all he has to do is sling a web and he is free to enjoy the rest of the dream.

It was a moment where i felt stuck myself and did not really know what to say. I said what i did because I wanted him to know he had control and hoped that that alone would end the dreams. I was delighted that it had the impact that it did on him, and overjoyed to hear him relaying it to little brother as advice.

Had a slight glimpse of him saying it to my grandchildren someday and whoa, then the tears REALLY started flowing...lol.

i thought I never wanted children then when I was pregnant he melted the chill a little each day. When he says " I love you Mummy " 50x a day I know it's only for me. When he kisses me and clamps me around the back of the neck and says " I hold YOU", how can anyone not fall in love?! I love helping this little boy grow and change each and every day into a wonderful beautiful person. Being a mom ROCKS!!!!

The sound of an honest laugh. Sometimes kids laugh and it doesn't sound genuine. Also, I would have to say the sweet and not so sweet nicknames....haha....my son insists on calling me Na and Moose. So the saying goes, "Na, you are being a bad Moose!" :-)

Thanks Fiona it makes me smile too :) Thanks for sharing your beautiful stories!
I have another one too. I love how sometimes I'll be doing something like even typing on COM and then look over at my son and he'll be staring at me. Then I'll smile, he'll smile and we get back to what we were doing - me back to typing and him back to chewing on the remote control. Then the whole scenario will repeat itself hehe. Love it!

I love that no matter how crazy my day is or how I'm feeling, she can cheer me up simply by being there. There is no feeling in the world like knowing you are unconditionally loved by another person. I also love the many things she teaches me everyday. My daughter teaches me how to love, builds up my patience (even if it is by testing it), and reminds me how important it is to really laugh. It's near impossible to hear a child's laugh - you know the one, that deep laugh that starts in their toes - and not feel instantly better.

You can't grow as a person unless you give...and what better channel to do that then to be a mom? You have the ability to shape a person - teach them how to survive in this crazy world and instill in them self-worth, love and determination. I wouldn't trade being a Mom for all the free time and luxuries in the world! Each chapter of their life has enriched mine - sure there are tough times but we all come out of them stronger and wiser. Life is about living...and grandkids are the icing on the cake!

I love when she puts her arms up and wants to cuddle. I love the big smiles I get and the sloppy kisses too. I love it all I could type for ever. Some people just can't appreciate the good in life.

I love how when my daughter latches on to feed she gets a crazed wide eyed look and dives in at the last second. I love how when she is awake she looks like me and when she is asleep she looks just like me husband. I love how sometimes when she cries there's no real reason, she just wants me and as soon as she gets me she snuggles in. I love her smile, even though it's only been directed at me once. I love how I feel every day when I wake up and see her - just when I think it's not possible to love someone more!

Well my little guy is 4 years old. Every night b4 he goes to sleep, he says "I love you mommy" and gives me a hug. Every Sunday while I'm trying on an outfit that really "fits", be always tells me that I look beautiful or that I don't look "bigger". I love teaching him big words and when he can use it correctly in a sentence, it's amazing! So there is nothing challenging about being a mother. I love it more than anything because I know that his dad and I are doing a hell of a job raising him right. I have the sweetest and most hard-headed little boy for a mother who gave birth in high school, about to finish college, and still with his dad. So KUDOS to any other mothers just like me!!!!
