I couldn't take 'proper' steps, my stride ended up being alot shorter. I also couldn't walk far without needing to stop & rest. I also felt heaps of pressure low in my back & pelvis. My family kept commenting that my bump had moved lower, although I felt like I could breathe better. My midwife checked me the day before I delivered & told me the baby's head was engaged.

my son was engaged 2 wks before i delivered and head down 8 wks before i delivered. i had tons of pressure everytime i stood up. i was really sore down there and could barely walk. i also had to pee every 1/2 hr or so. i was getting a lot of cramping too. Good Luck!

I had that with my second. He dropped down so low into my pelvis a couple of days before he was born and the pain in my back and hips was terrible. I phoned my midwife and she said a great way of giving relief is to get a big piece of material(like a sarong) and tie it around your hips. It worked a treat!! I looked ridiculous but didn't care. It just gives you some gentle support in this area. Good luck....

thanks for all your help, i had a nice bath and that helped with the pain i'm fine today. i meant engaging in the pelvis, bubz head has been down for weeks but it felt a bit different last night like it may have been engaging, i guess i'll find out next week when i have my antenatal visit :)
My big bump droped down conciderably - one day the baby was right up under my ribs and I couldn't slouch and the next day the bump had shifted right domn and i couldn't sit comfotably. Also when i jolted my body (moving to quicklt, down stairs ect) i could feel the the babys head bump my pelvic bones - ouch!
Over all I don't think it should be painfull, just bloody uncomfortable

If you have no drugs like i did for my third one it does hurt alot but it's over in no time and it worth it.But with my second one i had epidural and didn't feel a thing that was so great. And my first one was a caesarean so i had them all.

I didn't actually feel my son engaged! I just had very bad back pain! I couldn't sit down or anything! Though what I found helped is standing with your feet shoulder width apart and swaying gently from side to side! This also helps when your in labour to speed it up! That and walking up and down stairs!
