My daughter started on the Enfamil Lipil, but she wasn't even a day old when i had to switch her to Enfamil Soy 'cause she was crying in pain with every bowel movement. But Enfamil is expensive, and with the income my husband makes, we couldn't afford it. (Couldn't and still can't get WIC, my disability check raises us up over the cut off income mark). So I looked at the label for the Wal-Mart Parent's Choice and the only difference between the two was a single gram of water, so that's what we have her on now.
Every now and then she gets constipated and then all I do is give her a 5 oz bottle that is 1 oz apple juice and 3 ozs water. Her ped said that was fine, as long as it's not a daily thing (that was a couple months ago), now he says to give it to her as I'm starting her on solid foods, to help keep her regular as her body learns to process different foods.

We used every kind for our son becasue he was projectile vomiting and at 8 months we found enfamil gentle ease worked good but only for about 1-1.5 months. We had to switch him to cows milk around then and he stopepd throwing up and for our daughter who is 5 months she is on nestle good start. Have yuo by chance started rice cereal with him? If you have it might be that he is eaither eating too much or it's too thick. Try making it thinner, it should be very runny.
Good luck:) If all else fails try the LOVE massage...you can find it on babycenter.com or yahoo

My son uses Enfamil Gentlease. We tried everything when he was little and once we used this one he was a completely different baby. He's 10 months old now and we haven't had problems in forever.

I used Enfamil A+ for awhile with Samuel, and then saw a store brand from Loblaw's (a grocery chain in Canada), which was considerably less expensive and thought I'd give it a try. I brought the labels from both to my pediatrician, and he gave his blessing, and Sam took to it with no problems. So that's what we use now -- it's got iron, and Omega 3 and 6 just like the Enfamil.

We used Good Start formula. It breaks down the protiens so it is easier to digest.

my daughter had the same problem...her ped. told me to try isomil but that didn't work so she ended up on alimentum...if his gass is loud and he looks like he is in pain he may need to have a medical proceedure to have his anus sreched. i forget the technical name, but my daughers' was too small and her ped. had to strech it.

If the only issue is a difficulty pooping I would recomend not switching until you try other options to relieve that issue. When my son was a young infant, starting at two months, to help with reflux naturally I started him on cereal, only rice, which is binding. In order to balance tha binding affect until he started other solids i used something from Walgreens, called "little Tummies", I believe. It has all natural ingredients like chamomiel. I gave him the minimum dose every evening, like a vitamin and he was always regular. It is in a green bottle and it is advertized as an antigas remedy. Give it a try:)

My first child had the same problem. Almost went a week without pooping. We tried everything, to no avail. Finally found a natural solution. "Baby Acidophilus". It is similar to cultures found in breastmilk that baby needs to digest food easily. It comes in powdered form and you can add a third or half a scoop in every other bottle. Look for it in any health food store in the refrigerator section. Good luck!

For my daughters when they were constipated i tried changing formula but all that did was make them suffer just about 1 tsp of prune juice in there formula helped them go fine the ped said that using juices that young wasnt good cuase they are so consentrated so i put it in there formula so it was watered down and they loved it

I found that the only thing my son could actually digest was the Walmart "Parents Choice" formula. It was the last one I tried, because I had so much guilt from stopping breast on demand. I wanted the best, and tried Enfamil, Nestle Good Start and all the rest. The only one he wasn't constipated on was the cheap Wal-mart brand.
Formula is a very tricky thing. Find one that works take a while. All the best!

He is old enough that you could put some prune juice in his formula, like an ounce or 1/2 ounce everytime he eats. That would help loosen his stool. I use Sam's Club brand formula. My son had problems with that when he was young. Just a word of advice, don't give him too much, it might cause him to spray like a garden hose (speaking from experience). Good luck.

My daughter had the exact same problem, around the same age. She was put on a prescription stool softener until her body got used to the new formula. We switched her to Good Start Soy. Worked great!

P.S....Enfamil has a great selection for different types of baby issue! I had to put my daughter on the Gentle Ease Enfamil at first. Its easier on the stomach and that might be helpful for your son's little tummy!

I used Enfamil Lipil, and swear by it! I love it and so do my kids....My daughter is now on the Enfagrow Lipil. They have a vanilla flavor now and its her favorite. I will say that the Enfamil Lipil is pricey but completely worth it. Once your child gets into the Enfagrow (for 12+ months) its a little cheaper.

And make sure you get the dark cause if you get the light it will make it worse. If you do try this

My friend has a 2 week old with this problem and I know they put like a half a teaspoon of miralax with his formula to help. They also were going to get Enfamil Gentlease because that one deals with fussiness and gas. I use Good Start Gentle Plus and my 2 1/2 month old never had any issues. Hope this helps!

I used GoodStart and my daughter never had a problem. Some kids are just more sensitive to the iron in the formula. I would consult your dr. or a nurse helpline before switching to soy. I realize some babies do have a milk allergy, but most of the time it is from iron. I might try the dark Karo syrup in a bottle 1st. That's an old remedy for constipation. (great tip Sarah)

I always used enfinimil lipil. and i never had issues with it. And if you are still having issues put about a teaspoon of the dark Karo syrup in his bottle that stuff works wonders and I would make sure there is noting else going on that could be causing him to have these problems
