What happened the day you went into labor? Read my CRAZY story

[deleted account] ( 13 moms have responded )

Hey, okay, my story is crazy. First off, when I hit full term I was doing everything in my power to have Fatty (my son) and it was not working!!! On Saturday, April 5th (3dys before my due date) I am walking to go pay our rent, I'm feeling a little wet so I changed clothes, wait..... nothing so I go back to doing nothing. Couple hours later I feel wet again so I'm asking myself, "Are you being paranoid, cause you're home alone? Should I go to the hospital just in case?? Why did Brother have to be out of town now?? Do I call papi (my husband) and let him know?? How will I get to the hospital?? Let me call papi." So I call my husband, he says to call Cuzn (our family friend, Lionel) so I call cuzn and I'm like, "Are you busy right now?" and he's like, "Not really, what's up?" and I'm like, "I need to you to take to the hospital." ......Silence........... "It's time?" "Idk, I think my water may have broken, but I want to check for sure." "Ok, I'm on my way." I call papi let him know what's up. I 'm at the hospital. waiting, getting kinda annoyed because another person has walked in and asked me if I smoke or drink or been abused, yada, yada, yada. So the doctor FINALLY comes in, and he's all, "Your water has broken yet, you are have some mild contractions mixed in with Braxton Hicks *me, "What?"* and you're only one centimeters dilated so we can't keep you. So I'm like ......oooookkkkkkaaaaayyyyyy.....???? We get back home at 8:30pm, cuzn stays just in case, so I go upstairs to try and relax (ha!). Another family friend comes over, they leave and walk to the store. It's now 10:00, I am crying my eyes out, "What should I do, it hurts so much, but they say it's not really real? Do I just wait till papi gets off (midnight)? Who can I call?" I call my mom who is in VA (we're country folks so I thought she had some remedy to ease the pain, she didn't.) she doesn't answer. I call again no answer, I try my Auntie who is a nurse, no answer. I call my mom back, at first she doesn't know who I am cause she can hear is crying. She finally figures out that it is me and asks me a series of questions, "How far are the contractions, Where is Keon (papi), Are you timing them?, Are you home alone? What's Keon's work number? They are coming to close together, you need to go to the hospital now!!!" I'm crying and screaming, "I don''t know!! It hurts!!! He's at work, doesn't get off till 12. No, I can't. No, yes, I don't know they went to the store!!! I'll call." I hang up and attempt to call my husband right when another contraction hits so the guy that answers get , "Can I *gasp for air* speak to *gasp* Keoooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!" LOL. Cuzn and Calvin runs up the stairs to find me holding on to the closet door. They help me down the stairs (we lived in a townhouse) and then down the stairs outside down the hill to the car. Now, mind you it's night and raining, I have on shorts, and a hoodie. Nothing else. I try to call papi back to make sure they knew and they told me that he was on the way. We get to the hospital at 10:30 (now remember I just left 2hrs ago), they ask me for my info and I'm like lady I was JUST here!!!!! They take to the room and give me an IV, ask me if I want drugs. It's almost 11, it takes 25 mins at the most to get from his job to here so now I'm freaking out because I know that he's not going the speed limit or stopping when he knows I'm in labor so that doesn't help. As they are rolling me to the elevator he runs up beside me. I found out later that the car ran out of gas leaving work, lol. I had Fatty at 4:55am Sunday morning on April 6th,

You do not want my story.. i am the ones that the nurses try to warn about.. the ones that have very difficult labors.. and why dont some docs just allow c-sections.. i tried to get one with my last one and the doc was like you will be ok... yea.. as him and 4 or 5 nurses all backed up while i was pushing as my fists went up and about decked one of the nurses...

I kinda get mean... but even the epidurals do not fully help me when i am in labor... with the last one.. it felt like my cervix was being grabbed and just split open.. ok.. so the last 2 kids were over 10 lbs and were at least 2 weeks early each...

I was due 14th of february 2008 and that morning i started having contractions every 20 minutes apart. Called my midwife who came examined me and said your 3cm dilated try to stay at home and if your contractions get to 5 minutes apart go to hospital. Day after contractions now 10 minutes apart started having hot baths and sitting on a birthing ball at home to try and help by lunchtime was having contractions 5 minutes apart so went to hospital was taken in examined was still 3cm dilated but had no signs of waters breaking. Kept in over night and was SENT home next day even though was having contractions every 7 minutes (because my waters hadnt broken) for the next 10 days was still 3 cm dilated and having contractions every 10 minutes, Bare in mind this was even at night so was shattered. Midwife finally got me booked in to be induced on 27th of february (nearly 2 weeks overdue) where my contractions were every 8 minutes but my local hospital wouldnt take me unless they were 3-4 minutes apart lasting 60 seconds. Went in and was asked to come back an hour later as there were no beds. Went back at 6pm that night was hooked up to the baby tracing moniter straight away. At 9.40 my waters broke on there own and i went from 3cm to 6cm in an hour by midnight i was 9cm dilated. Finally had an epidural at 1.30 the next morning as was in that much pain. Epidural knocked me out (during this time my babies heart rate dropped and the doctors tried to wake me to examine me) woke up to find my legs in stirrups and 2 doctors at the end of my legs trying to take a blood sample from my babies head. By 6.30 am they thought my baby was in terrible danger so arranged for me to have a c section. At 7.30 they took me down to get the baby out of me 8.04am my 8lb 7.5oz little boy was born then my blood pressure dropped and i went into shock and couldnt stop shaking so couldnt hold my baby for 2 hours after i delivered.

This has put me off having another one for life

with my first he was 4 days late and i was in labour for 52 hrs and 20 mins.with my third she was 3 weeks early and i was in labour 2 hrs and 20 mins but both very pretty straight forward. But with my second child she was 2 weeks early and make a very quick and pain full rush into the world.i was booked in for a c section on the monday because of her being breach. On the wednesday before she decided she wasnt waiting any longer.so my wonder little girl was born in the car park out side our house just as i was getting into the ambulance after only being in labour for 23 miniutes and she was still breach and i had to give birth to her naturally and with no pain relief.

WOW, ok. All of yall's story are amazing...and scary, lol. We want 5 but because of these stories we might leave it at one, lol. I was in labor for 6hrs. I started pushing at 4:30 and had him at 4:55. And the momas having 10lb babies, NATURALLY. God bless your soul. After almost hr of me being there and the anesthesiologist walking in and out of the room, I grabbed my husband and said, "Get me my drugs!!!" And 5mins later I got them and proceeded to fall asleep, I woke up and I was 8cm and they were breaking my water, went back to sleep, woke up and started pushing.

I had to chuckle reading your story cuz I could just picture it in my head! lol My oldest was born at 32 wks... so imagine my surprise when I first went into labor! Me & my now husband Troy(we weren't married at the time) were at my parents house on a Monday afternoon... We had just had sex & I noticed that I had a little spotting, well I didn't think too much of it because this had happened like a wk or 2 before & the Dr couldn't figure out why it happened so said not to worry... Anyway, we leave to go into a nearby town where my husband worked at the time to chat with his buddies & boss. I on the other hand was starting to feel uncomfortable, & achy, & was having very mild contractions but didn't think too much of it becuz of it being to early to deliver but I kept track of them anyway just in case. So I'm walking/pacing, sitting then standing trying to ease the ache in my back lol Well before we leave I go to the bathroom & noticed that I had spotted again! So I'm thinking, I'm just going to drop Troy off at his place & I'll go back to the hosp to get checked. I didn't want him to worry in case it really wasn't anything.lol But he wanted to go to his friends first, lol, & as I'm driving I'm really starting to have contractions & he notices me breathing differently & gripping the steering wheel & then relaxing, so he asks.. Whats the matter? & I say, well, I'm not sure, its probably nothing, & he's like, WHAT?! So I tell him what had been happening. We get to his friends place & he's a volunteer EMT, & troy tells him whats going on, then he asks if my water had broke, which it hadn't, but he tells troy to get me to the hosp NOW! We get there & by this time the contractions are so intense I can barely stand let alone walk! The Dr's jaw hit the floor when he checked me & I was at a 4! So they take me by ambulance with troy with (I insisted on that!) to Childrens Hosp in St Paul MN. Give me all kinds of stuff to stop the labor...Well after being there a wk they were going to send me home but I didn't make it, I starting having contractions again & they were going to stop it, again, so I'm calling my parents & troys parents & Troy, letting them know what was going on. They all asked if they should come up & I'm like, No, I'll be fine. lol then my water broke! I'm freaking out thinking, what if the baby doesn't make it, til a nurse who stayed with me 4 hrs past the end of her shift, told me that it wasn't going to do the baby any good for me to be all stressed. So then I call Troy's moms to tell her to have troy come up cuz the baby was coming etc. My Dr was like, well we should have a baby any time now, & I'm like oh no we're not! Not til someone from my family gets here cuz I'm not doing this alone! LOL Well Troy had gone to a street dance in town, lol so his mom calls the bar where it was at & they announced it over the loudspeakers! Troy said he flew up to the hosp at 95 mph to get there in time! lol We know this cuz his parents who have a scanner heard it come over that some cop had clocked him but couldn't catch him, when they found his car in the parking lot of the hosp they decided to just let it go! lol In the meantime I'm trying to get a hold of my parents or anyone in my family! I had troys poor mom calling everywhere! lol Being it was July, my sisters were all out at River Days Festival, and my mom had gone out to eat!... but everyone finally made it in time. I had to have a cervical block becuz I was having such back labor pain! But everything worked out & he is a healthy, smart young man of 19 yrs! lol

its so nice to read other peoples stories of child birth. ive had 4 children and all the pregnancies were brilliant but when it came to my due dates they came and went i went 2 weeks over with all of my children my first born took 3 inducements and finally 41 hrs later he was born my 2nd child only once it only took 1hr 45mins i went in to be induced with my 3rd but when i was monitored up i started to bleed my placenta was giving up and i gave birth naturally to a 10 pound boy 7 and a half hours later and the last took 3 attempts of inducing but still nothing so i had a c-section i hated it i would have given birth twice over than have that it wasnt painfull but i just didnt feel like i had had a baby i dont understand woman that opt for c-sections unless its medical and of corse out of thier hands as natural child birth is so rewarding when you give that final push and a beautiful bundle is passed to you.

Ok, my turn to share. My first born was text book. I was due Dec 30th 1999. I started having contractions on Jan. 3rd 2000 in the evening, the next morning they were 5 min apart, went to hospital, pushed two hours after I finally dialated, had an epidural, born 9:47pm Jan 4th 7lb 14oz little girl. So when I found out I was pregnant again in spring of 2006, I thought nothing of it.

Well 32 weeks along with my second I started having strong braxton hicks. I thought they were braxton hicks because they didn't have a pattern. Well two days later, I decided to go into the doctors office because still having them. Well they are contractions, I am 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. On to the hospital for a drug to stop labor, then home. Next day, back to hospital, contractions started again. This time I am put on bed rest, and a pill of the same drug they gave me the shot earlier to stop contractions. For the next 6 weeks, I had to endure the constant pain and discomfort of irregular contractions and tightness while on bedrest and taking this medicine. The docs don't want me to have the baby yet, it still needs to "grow", "gain weight" and of course develop more. Finally at 38 weeks, they stop the meds and I go into labor on Dec 17th, 2006.

So I go in to the hospital, I am 5cm dilated and about 80% effaced (yes on the meds that "stop" labor.) I am staying!! Next morning I am ready to push, about 11am. So I push and push and push. Oh and yes I have the epidural, but no, it isn't working and I can feel everything. Well after about 1 1/2 hour, still no baby - I mean this is my second, don't they come out faster with the second? So my nurse decides to go on lunch break and the other nurse comes in. She checks me and discovers the baby's head is sideways and stuck. What?!! Did the first nurse not notice this? So I have pushed for nothing, no progress, etc? Well the docs course of plan is to have me lay on my side to see if the baby will turn his head. So I lay there for 45 minutes, crying my eyes out because I am in so much pain I can't stand it. Family and friends left the room they couldn't take it anymore, I really thought I could die doing this. Finally the doc comes in, decides this isn't working and decides to use the suction to help turn the baby's head to come out. (You mean you could have done that 45 min ago?) 30 min later after making that decision, and with just 4 pushes, my 10 lb baby boy was born at 2:42pm Dec 18th. Yes I said 10 lbs, at 38 weeks? I think somebody made a mistake. You kept this baby inside of me to grow and he came out 10 lbs. Maybe, just maybe, I was in pre-term labor for 6 weeks because he was big enough to come out!!

The next morning the doc did apologize and said they didn't realize he would be that big. So here I am, due again in April, and they have already said they will take this baby in March, just incase it is another big baby.

well here is my story..I found out I was pregnant at 21 weeks... 29 weeks I went into labour, but at the time I didn't know it, it was my third pregnancy, and I figured I would know when labour started.. I was just having these crampy type feelings and then started throwing up, I thought it was the flu but I went to the hospital anyways, turns out that I was in labour and already 3 centimeters dilated..so they kept me in the hospital. I was given a drug to "stop" the labour since my water hadn't broke, and was given steroid therapy to help speed up the development of the baby's lungs, because it was unavoidable that she would be born premature..so december 2007 I "moved" into the hospital..I was put on complete bedrest with bathroom privileges only. By december 31, everything had ' simmered' down and they thought it might be safe to let me go home ( since I lived around the corner from the hospital ) so I went home. That night being New year's eve, I was invited out to a new year's eve church function and I thought that since the doc's gave me the all clear, that maybe I would go.. all was well, throughout the night, just really tired though and that ' heavy' feeling. but nothing I wasn't used to..so i get home ( I am a single mom, I know who her father is, let's just leave it at that, lol ) by myself.. I was so damn tired, I just flopped into bed. well 2 hours later I rolled over only to find my bed wet, and I thought to myself that maybe I was in such a deep sleep that I didn't even realize I had to go to the bathroom, so I got up, went to the bathroom and as I was walking back to my bedroom, I felt the sudden gush of water. it was like 3 am and I had no one to call, so I just got my stuff together and called the ambulance ( I literally lived around the corner from the hospital but I wasn't taking a chance at walking there at 3 am, anyhow, the thing was I wasn't feeling any contractions or anything.. I was still feeling ok..I get to the hospital, I get checked out, and yes, my water did break but I was still only 3 centimetres dilated ( same as I was at 29 weeks ) so.. I moved back into the hospital, nothing was happening, but since she was going to be premature and I was just at 33 weeks, my OB wanted me induced.. well there was a waiting list and I was put on the bottom, then I had this nurse in the L and D and she was a total umm.. well you know.. and she says to me, why are you here? and I said because my water broke and I am at 33 weeks so I am being induced and she said, but you aren't in active labour... and I said I know that, but if you look at my chart you will see that I was in preterm labour at 29 weeks and was living here for the last month , was let out for one day and now I am back. Well that pissed her off and she somehow took me off the list for induction.long story short... I had to wait until the 7th of january to be induced..I was very uncomfortable, put on anti-biotics so that the baby wouldn't get an infection since there was nothing protecting her from the outside world. Every day my doctor would call and complain to l and d trying to get me in and they would say there was no room yet..all my nurses were pulling for me too trying to find out what they could. My doctor finally had to get a higher power involved to get some sort of action, because this was not safe at all for the baby, she was at serious risk...so finally I was fed up, in pain, and downright p***** off, so I took my iv pole and made the long uncomfortable trek down to l and d and I walked right in there went up to the desk and these nurses were looking at me and one said " can I help you? " and I said.."look, I want to know what the hell is going on here because I have been waiting for almost a week to have this baby, this is a serious issue here, she will be born premamture I was on the list then suddenly I was off the list but I was told I am priority and if I don't get in here today and this baby is not born as safe as possible I have no problems getting a lawyer on the phone, and I can guarantee the outcome will not be good for this hospital or the l and d staff" and she said what is your name so I told her and she made a call then the next thing I know, I am next..they narrowly avoided a huge lawsuit...anyhow.. my labour ended up being long 14 hrs from the time of induction...I wanted an epidural and they sent this geeky looking guy in, and as he was doing the procedure, he kept saying to himself ' huh, I am not sure why I can't get this line in, doesn't want to work.. after about 3 tries I said to him, ok. never mind, take what you have in, out..he said why what's wrong, I said " if you don't feel confident inyour own skill, then why should I?.. I know the side effects of these things, if they are not done properly, serious things can happen" and he said, what are you afraid of? and so I said " paralysis?" chronic back back for the rest of my life? severe nerve damage?" and he said well the line is in, but I can't guarantee that it will work, and so I said again " take it out then, I don't trust your ability since you can't even say for sure whether you did your own procedure correctly " so in the end he took it out and I was happy, even though I was in alot of pain...I would rather be in pain then possibly never walk again. after that point, nothing was happening still, I was not any further than the 3 cm still, and they increased the drug. it made me very nauseous and I started throwing up and wretching... well when I started doing that, the labour started to pick up..within an hour, I went from the 3 cm to 5, but the monitors started sounding an alarm that the baby was in serious distress and my doctor rushed in and said to a nurse to get an OR ready for emergency c-section, but I kept wretching and the doctor noticed that everytime I threw up, the head was coming down so she said for me to start pushing... a nurse said out loud " at 5 cm????" and the doctor said they baby was small enough to fit through there, so I started pushing but couldn't get enough strength ( I had no body strength at all, since I was in bed for over a month ) everytime I wretched though, the baby's head came doen farther and farther..so the doctor said keep wretching, the baby will be here in 1 minute.. the next thing I knew her head was almost out and a nurse says " wow that is a lot of fur" and so I looked at her and said "what? am I having kittens now?? " a few seconds after that, she was completely out, but not breathing, she was taken away so fast from me, I didn't even get to see her at all...She was born at 402 am and I didn't even get to see her in the NICU until almost noon as they needed to get her stabilized and breathing.. she was in the NICU for ust over 3 weeks and after a rough start ( I was told she wasn't going to make it and that I should see a pastor and start preparations ) she is a healthy and beautiful 10 month old baby girl, weighing in at 11 pounds...my miracle angel..and you know.. when someone asks me or comments on how much pain I must have went through during the delivery I always tell them, that is nothing..I remember very little of the pain, physical or emotional ( seeing her and not being able to hold her, hooked up to all these monitors and tubes and wires that was worse then the physical ) but the joy she has given me and the strength she has on her own to survive far outweighs any of the pain I felt...She has taught me so much and given me so much that those hours of labour seem like such a small sacrifice to have been lucky enough to recieve such a beautiful gift like her.. this christmas is her first christmas... a christmas I was told she would never see!!! another gift for me!!!

I love to hear about other woman's experiences !!!
With my first,,, I was due April 12th ... A month before my due date,,, my doctor told me to pack my bags because I wouldn't make it to my due date ... He said that I was dilated at 2 cms and 50% ephased ... Well on April 22nd,,, I went in for an ultra sound (not only did I make it to my due date,,, I was 2 weeks overdue) ... My doctor told me that he thought that my son would be at least 10 pounds ... He told me to go home and pack my bags come back and they would induce me !!! I said ok and left ... My husband was so confused because my bags had been packed for awhile now ... I told him to let me get use to a 10 pound child coming out of my body !!!
Well they induced me the next morning,,, it took them three tries and my contractions started every 5 minutes right away !!! The next morning the doctor told me that I was 2 cms dilated and efased 50% ... She said that I must be so happy ... She saw that I was upset and when I told her that she said the same thing almost 2 months ago she went ahead and broke my water !!!
Well 27 hours into labor,,, they finally gave me epidural (my contractions were every 2 minutes lasting 1 1/2 minutes ... My husband told me that I was snoring during the 30 seconds rest I had) ... 3 hours later the doctor asked me what I thought of a c-section ... Well at that point I just said "get IT out" !!! So on April 25th,,, I had a beautiful 7 pounds 15 1/2 once little boy !!! My dad says that every time he sees the episode of friends where Rachel is in labor and all those women go ahead of her,,, he can't help and think of me because 10 women came after me and had their babies before me !!! LOL !!!
My second boy,,, it was a similar story and my third,,, they decided that I tried to hard to have them naturally that they scheduled me a c-section right away !!!
I feel a little cheated that I have never experienced a natural birth !!!
Oh well,,, my three kids are healthy and that is what is important !!!

LOL, WOW!!! OMG, you've never had an epidural? I think I would die. I was in labor for 6hrs, but I slept once I got my epi. They said that your first pregnancy will be the longest laboring time so I'm kinda freaked about the next time I get pg.

[deleted account]

I was due June 8th with my fourth, so, on May 30th we had to go to an openhouse, so we went there and I was all excited because my OB had just scheduled me to be induced because I have a "history of fast labor" and we live 45-50 mins from the hospital, plus we would have to find somewhere to go with the other 3 girls, and so was planning on going June 4 and FINALLY being able to experience the pleasure of an epidural. Well, after the openhouse I was feeling fine so my hubby and I decided to put up the bunk beds for the 2 oldest girls so we could put the youngest (at the time) in a crib in their room. We were up until 2 in the morning doing that and then we went to bed. Well, I woke up at 5:00am and my stomach hurt. I just thought that I had eaten something that didn't agree with me, so I got up and went to the bathroom and then laid on the couch, but rather than the pain going away it got worse. I grabbed my phone and called hubby (who was upstairs sleeping soundly) and told him I was in labor and that we had to go to the hospital (thankfully it was a Sat. am). He asked if I was sure, becuase he was tired and wanted to sleep, and I relpied, "Yeah, I'm sure. Now GET UP!" I had to change my clothes, pack for myself and the 3 girls, call his mom to meet us on the way to the hospital and then get everyone in the van. Once on the road, we realized that we were almost out of gas, and unless we stopped, we wouldn't make it! So we stopped for gas and then shorlty before we met with his mom I started to feel like I had to push and we had a 15-20 min drive yet to the hospital yet. We dropped the kids and left and it was 6:09am. We FLEW down the highway, and because it was early on a Sat. there was no traffic. Our 4th daughter Megan was born at 6:31am. We made it to the hospital, and I was in the delivery room for 5 mins before she was born. I pushed 2 times, and on my second push, hubby came in the door and the doctor said, "Here, here is your little girl. Come cut the cord." My total labor time was 1 hour and 30 mins. If we have another, I am just going to rent a room at the hospital 2 weeks before my due date.
