i got my baby a little push car that she can also sit on, mind u she was walking by then but really your chikd is not going to even remember there first birthday so dont go all out on it, just some thing to let your child no that there birthday is their day, i waited till my child was asleep and then put up ballons and a few signs that said happy birthday and she went nuts, even get a toy your child already has and rap it up so they get the idea of opening gifts then get a bunch of lil doller store toys, your baby will love it lol just let them no that day is for them, mine was hard cause my babys b-day is a day after x-mas so i had to take down all decorations for that and then rape gifts and put up b-day stuff all in one nite lol fun fun

among the normal books, toys and clothes that kids get for b'days for both of mine on their first b'days I made them books. They have their birth story, statistics from when they were born, a letter to them from me and my hubby about the things we want for them in life, the meaning of their names, star sign info, birth stone and flower, transcript of the special song I sung them all the time (thye have one each). You know just the special memory bits and pieces for each of them

1 is the best age to buy for. Just get your baby the things he or she needs.. Besides soon they will be telling you what they want. Nows the time to save some money on things you would buy for them anyway.
Anything you get will be great.. Just make sure you put it in a big box then let the baby play in the box. Let both sides open so your baby can crawl through it.. That will be the best gift ever..

We have a rule in our house there gift is there birthday parties. We usually end up spending $100-$200 once you get food, plates, utensils, tablecloths, theme items and the of course cake and ice cream. Nope we don't agree with additionally getting them gifts. Those come from the guests.

I decided to get my daughter a little kitchen. She loved and still does. Also like previous people have said things to ride on is great too. Good luck, and Happy Birthday to your baby girl.

oops, first link didn't work, here it is again: http://www.catalogfavorites.com/itemdy00...,1984
but if it doesn't work, go to www.catalogfavorites.com and type in "personalized name puzzle" into the search, and it'll pop up!

I get it for almost everyone's kids' birthdays now!
Also this is a great book for either giving a mom-to-be at a baby shower, or for any sort of gift: http://www.amazon.com/Night-You-Were-Bor...
