Whole milk up until they're 2. I gave my daughter whole milk till she was 5 but then moved her onto semi skimmed the same as me. Semi skimmed still has all the goodness that whole milk has, the same level of calcium etc but it has less fat and according to professionals, kids don't need that fat after they turn 2 because they're getting it from everywhere else in their diet.

whole milk contains important fatty acids for children, however if you child gets a cold or "snotty" or even trouble sleeping milk can worsen the problem rice milk with calcium is a good alternative for these problems. Skim lacks many of the vittamins and calcium and is of little nutritional value to children

I was always told by my doctors that under age 2 always whole milk.
If they are underweight to continue with the whole milk, but after age 2 any milk.
The point being that they drink it!
Our household is all 2%

It depends on the child. If the child is thin or normal weight then whole milk is best. If the child is being put on a healthy diet because they are overweight then semi skimed/2% milk is better over the age of 2. Under 2 whole milk is usually best for all kids.

If you give your kids milk whole milk is definitely better than skim milk - kids need all the nutrients they can get including some fats as they are still growing. Skim milk will fill them up without meeting the nutritional needs.
