Quoting Amber:
Breastfeed and you wont have to worry about it! It's the best food you can give your baby!!
While I agree Breastfeeding is the best, that isn't an answer to her question. I breastfed until I returned to work and pumped at work, but I could not keep up with the demand of my growing baby. I tried every formula and wound up using the generic store brand. My boys are healthy, happy, and smart. Choose what the baby likes and what you can afford.

It usually is what works best with your baby. I'd try the Similac because they have so many different kinds to fit your baby's individual needs. Most brands only have 2 different kinds and they have like 6.

Neither of children latched on so I had to formula feed both. My Physician told me that brand name is not better then generic, but DHA and ARA does help improve in the growth and development. I could afford brand name for the first (Enfamil DHA/ARA), but not with the second (Parents Choice DHA/ARA- Wal Mart).

Dear Mom's
Human breast milk contains long chain carbon molecules (Omega 3 family) that are necessary to retina and brain development. When you buy products for your baby you should look for Omega in the form of EPA and DHA. Cow's milk doesn't contain them naturally. Recently maker's of baby formula have started adding these important nutrients. You just need to make sure that they are in what you buy.

Thank you Ladies :) Alot of moms mentioned Similac... I use Similac Neosure becuase she was a premie and that is the formula that our hospital iused to supplement her when my milk ran out and I couldn't make it to the hospital... She was born at John's Hopkins and they are, well, one of the best facilities in the U.S., I guess. Eventually I will ween her from Neosure as she gets older and I think I have made my desicion thanks alot :)

I used Parent's Choice from WalMart with my now 6 year old, and the Member's Mark brand from Sam's Club with my now 21 month old. I spoke to the pediatrician about these, and she said that although they can't recommend a "store brand" formula, to compare the ingredients and to use whatever works best with baby. She also said that, off the record, if she were the mother of an infant now, she would probably go with one of those choices. The ingredients / amounts are identical to the Enfamil - I spent a considerable amount of time in the store comparing cans line for line - and for the money you can't get a better breast milk substitute for your baby. Word of warning though - I had a friend whose baby was a picky drinker that simply didn't like the taste of the Parent's Choice or Member's Mark - she ultimately had to stick with Similac. As far as the DHA/ARA goes, use whatever works for baby. I don't think my 2nd is any smarter than my 1st, who went without it... Marketing scheme, maybe????

I have 4 children and my younges is now 4 1/2 months. I have used 3 different ones, good start with my first, similac with my 2 and Sam's Club version with my last 2. It's been great, and you get twice as much as a regular sized one and it's 1/2 the price. I've been very pleased with it! Good luck

I started my son on enfiamil (how ever you spell it lol) and I really liked it. Im super poor so I had to go with wic and the only thing that wic gives us in florida is Good Start. but if i could afford it and had my choice i would choose enfiamil.

For my first daughter I breast def and then used Similac because 12 years ago that was the brand recommended. For my second, who is now 2, I had issues with breastfeeding and started using Parents Choice from Walmart on a suggestion from my sister and pediatrician. All formulas are basically the same (I checked all of the labels) and Parents choice was much more inexpensive. She had no problems at all with it, no spitting up or gas. They also have the different types, like the brand names, for babies with sensitivities.

All formulas have to pass the same FDA approval, so go with the attributes your baby needs or you consider most important. My Dr suggested ones w/ iron and one of my children needed one for sensitive tummies (Enfamil Advance). They are all tested so feel good about the choice YOU make for your baby!

for my first son i used good start. not dha and ara. my son could not digest it properly. he was always full of gas and never had proper poops. i did my research on it and read too many bad things about it. i switched him to the regular good start and he was a completely different baby. i also had about 3 friends with their children on the dha and ara and had the same problems. as soon as they switched them they were fine. for my 2nd son i refuse to even try him on any formula with dha and ara. i just have him on a generic formula (presidents choice) and he's been fine since day 1! he's 3 months, 14 pounds and a very healthy little guy!

Well, my son gets Enfamil Gentlease, but that is because he gets pretty gassy. The hospital my son was born in gave us some Similac Advance. That didn't work with our son, but I know it is a good formula. Enfamil Lipil is also really good. I recommend getting a small amount at first to test for like a week or two to see how your baby likes it. But don't be afraid to try store brands! My son doesn't mind Target's brand of Enfamil Gentlease.

I started my son on Premium Enfamil Lipil since it was the closest and next best thing to breastmilk. He takes it fine, doesn't spit it up and doesn't fuss as much as my friends' babies who are on different formula. I would recommend it.

I started with Enfamil on my 1st child after breath feeding for 4mths....but on my 2nd one I started the same but had to change to Similac for gassy n fussiness due to my child updet tummy..... It all depends on your baby. Alot of mom use most Enfamil due to the brand and mostly use by everyone. In my opinion I recomend Simmilac its more easy to diagest and its more fortable. Hope this help. My kids pediatric as advice both formula provides the same nutritions.

the top two formula's would be similac advanced with iron or enfamil. if your baby gets gas or reflux bad choose similac sensitive or if he/she is lactosintolerant chose similiac soy. i use similac advanced and i love it! it has the most nutrients!
