I'm 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant and so eager to meet my little boy! I live in the UK and can't seem to buy castor oil ANYWHERE! I just have that feeling that i'm going to be overdue and i'm so fed up! I have no sex drive so I can't even try the best way to induce labor. The thing I did manage to find was Califig which is a natural laxative but can anyone tell me if this works? I don't want to try it and just have the runs and no baby. Please help!

I tried absolutely everything with both my previous pregnancies ie sex, driving over speed bumps in the car, doing lots of housework, eating spicy food and going for long walks - nothing worked and both had to be induced at hospital. Probably won't stop me trying them all again this pregnancy but I think baby won't come till it's ready I'm afraid!

I am due on the 21st and have been tryin everything, sex, walking, baths, pelvic thrusts, lunges...nothing works for me so far. I am giving up i figure she'll come out eventually, even though the wait is a drag and i am more than ready for her. =] But good luck to you.

Please do not use laxatives or castor oil. You are not even due yet! Give your body time to do what it needs naturally. Before inducing yourself, please PLEASE consult your midwife or doctor!

Nothing worked for me I tried sex and walking wouldn't do castor oil though because it works as a laxative and the constant pushing to have a bowel movement can actually cause your cervix to become inflamed and swollen which can result in a c-section(this is why you aren't supposed to push until you are at 10 cm). If you are really miserable call your doctor and ask them to strip your membranes this is not the amniotic sac but the membrane that devolops on your cervix once you lose this membrane it causes your uterus to begin to contract. Nipple stimulation is supposed to work because breast feeding causes the release of oxytocin because it is also the hormone that makes you lactate but the amount of stimulation needed would be a lot.
Your best be is really to talk to your doctor I know my doctor was very understanding.

With my second child I started contractions on a Thursday morning and would have one every so many hours. It was crazy. Tuesday evening I had my weekly checkup, and my OB scraped the membranes. Sounds gross but it totally worked! I had my baby nine hours later. Good luck!

I tried everything. Cold baths, hot baths, walking, castor oil, sex, spicy food, rubbing your nipples etc. The only scientifically proven one is sex. To be honest though, just wait. Get as much sleep and relax. You will need it. I think next time I will just wait and let everything go as it is meant to.

Long walks, cleaning (not strenuous of course), sex and some spicy foods. That helped! My girlfriend walked for 1 hour at a time 5 or 6 times a day for 2 days and had her child quite quickly the following day!?!

Here are some things you can do,
1) Nipple stimulation
2) clean your house
6) Castor oil
7) eat spicy food
I hope that one if not all of those will help you. Good Luck and don't give up on trying.

laxatives are dangerous (like castor oil) and can cause baby to poo in the waters and swallow that poo and thats never a good thing,
other than that i SKIPPED! as high as you can when you are 40+ weeks pregnant! but i skipped around my block 2 or 3 times and went into labor 4 hours later. it could just be a coincidence but i think it worked for me!

Sex, and bouncing on an exercise ball, I hear pineapple, but that just gave me heartburn. Walking but that made my feet swell, I just bounced on an exercise ball for a couple shows a day and not sure if it helped, but I did go 2 weeks early? I heard castrol oil, but I also heard it can make you go to the bathroom and can increase the chances of the baby going to the bathroom while still in the belly. I also heard you just end up with false labour.

I'm a Mom X5and a granma, but the best advice I ever recieved when I was getting antsy to start labor was given by my midwife, Go home and have sex, sex brings orgasms, orgasms bring contractions, and contractions bring babies... LOL
I have heard a ton of different things and I tried them all. I went into labor 2 weeks early, not sure if any of these were the cause or just mother nature!
Eat spicy foods...Volcano Nachos from Taco Bell were good
Walk up and down stairs
Talk to the baby tell him/her about the nursery, grandparents, any pets, ect.

I took a 20-30 minute walk to a friends house. There were some pretty decent size hills, not too bad, but enough to make me feel it. a few hours later i was having contraction (i just thought it was braxton hicks so didnt think anything of it. 730 the next morning i woke up to pee & my water broke.
Try going for a walk (as long as you're not on bed rest & are healthy enough to)
Even if it doesnt work, it kinda makes you feel better!
Hope it helps =]
