My son just turned a year and at 6 months I started him on what I call the blender diet. Whatever we eat minus the allergy foods honey, peanuts, seafood ect. He gets. Sometimes he eats it sometimes he throws it. Trial and error.
My daughter best eater ever. I save fruits for last only cause of the natural sugars 9 out 10 times the like fruits no matter what. I push veggies with every meal. Sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, squash, stuff I hate (shhhhhhh). My four year old can clean a plate, my son is picky.
I read somewhere picky eaters are that way because they have more taste buds then the kid that likes everything you put in front of them. So broc for example has more of a bitter taste. try cooking it a different way before you give up on it completely or introduce it again in another week or two cooked different or combo with something different.
Meats and potatoes are great together makes a gross looking mush but in the end you are introducing variety. Just make sure lots of water or formula or milk if your are at that stage to avoid a constipated lil one.
At 37 weeks with kid three on the way I have always avoided Gerber baby products. They put too much water and food tends to be boring. My fear has always been I like the spices in food cumin, poultry seasoning, garlic, cinnamon in my spag sauce. I never liked cookin or knew how until marriage and kids. Now I love to hear my daughter say, "mmmmm mmmmmmmmmm good mommy." Plus I figured we'd be running enough with daily activities meal time was where we could keep the family connected.

I started with veggies, but when I tried all of those I moved to starting adding one fruit in the morning everyday. I usually gave/give him one fruit in the morning with sippie and then one veggie at lunch with sippie and one veggie at dinner with sippie. As he got older, I would give him snacks in between. He is still only 10 months, but now we give him little bites of table foods.... nothing really hard though..... the hardest I have given him is a nutty butter cookie.

Make sure to follow the 4-day rule of introducing new foods no more than every 4 days. This should give baby plenty of time to show if they have any sensitivities or digestive issues with the new food. Most pediatricians recommend starting with single grain cereals (rice, oat, barley) then introducing yellow veggies (squash, sweet potatoes, carrots) and green veggies (green beans, peas, zuccini). Then fruits like apples, pears, bananas, etc. There is a great website wholesomebabyfoods.com that has lists of what to offer at what age and lots of great baby food recipes and menus. Happy feeding!

Fruits come at about 6 months. My son is 9 months and his doc just said we could start meat (baby food).

just go with whatever you want, I got a recipe book for bubbies - they usually have lots of hints on what to give first etc. just avoid the high allergy items & any items your immediate family is allergic too - honey, eggs (uncooked), peanuts, seafood & strawberries. Variety is the key though, the more you introduce now, the less fussy they will be as they get older - atleast that is what I have found

After he has had all the stage 1 veggies then go to the fruits like apple sauce banana's and peaches, and do the same amount of time (i.e 2 days ) to watch for allergies, then after that depending on how old he is around 6 months start with the meat, but start with Lamb, it's the easiest on their digestive system I heard.
